I don't remember him when I was very young, but from the time I was about five. My first memory is of a trip to Akron Colorado, that took several days. I remember that he alway read to me and talked about his life in Colorado when he was young. He always wanted to return to the memorys of his youth, but had to live in the present. He loved to talk about farming and cattle. He was very proud of those in his famly that were still involved in ranching. He was also very proud of his two brothers, and always had pictures of their children with him. My dad was a packrat when it came to family.

I remember living with my Grandmother and Grandfather in Akron. My father's dad was one of the best looking people I remember, and when my dad was older he looked a lot like his father. My grandmother was still cooking on a coal stove when I lived with her in Colorado, and she cooked the best Angel food cakes in that coal stove.

My dad loved to take my brother and I shooting, fishing, and just walking in the pines. On sundays he would load me and my papers in his Buick (the only car in his life), drive me around and take me out for steak and eggs. In the summer he would bring home a cold water melon, and cut it in fourths the long way and we would sit on the lawn by his little room and eat it all.

The great sorrow in my dad's life was my older brother Charles who was very sick.

Matthew is retired from the U.S. Navy and lives in Jacksonville, Florida. Richard adopted Gail's son Kevin. Gail also adopted Charles and Shane.

Richard married Marilynn Bloch (Feldman, Howard) and they have two beautiful daughters: Cindy Feldman Wenig Bryant who lives with her husband Rick in Alta Loma, California, and Lori Feldman Wenig Arnet who resides with her husband Peter, in Orlando Florida.

Richard legally adopted Marilynn's daughters, Cindy and Lori in 1993 at their request.

George's son and daughter from Charlene Linda (McLean) Wenig are: Wesley Scott Wenig, born in Landstuhl, West Germany on September 13, 1967 and Lori Lynn Wenig, Born in Van Nuys, California on May 28, 1970.

In 1983 Bob retired after 30 years for Western Electric and Opal retired after 34 years with the Bank of America.

The things that mean the most to me are my sons, and beautiful grandchildren, my daughters-in-law, my sisters and brother. I guess just being a part of a family is about the most important thing to happen.

I remember all the good times we had on the 4th of July when mama and all the rest of the family were together. Bob was always grumpy, but loving every minute. Also, the excitement of the kids with the fireworks. Just all of us together was great.

Believe it or not, Bob is one great person. Everyone is kind of scared of him, but he just loves to holler, but always helps whenever he can.
