Nov 8, 1944 - David Edwards has a mysterious death
While David Kitzmiller Edwards II was on a rescue mission from Homestead, Florida, his plane crashed. Five members of the crew were also killed in the crash. David was the flight officer, and a member of the fifth Ferry Command with a home base at Love Field, Dallas, Texas. He had been at homestead for the past three weeks and was scheduled to complete his training on Nov. 13. His son was four years old, and his wife was pregnant with her second child.

Final Rites Held
The body of Flight Officer David K. Edwards, 28, who was killed with other members of the crew in a plane crash at Key West, Fla., on Nov. 9, was interred in Spring Hill cemetery, this city, yesterday with brief committal service at the grave by Dr. John M. Carter, of the Harrodsburg Baptist church. Funeral services were held at Morristown, Tenn., Tuesday. The body was accompanied from Key West by Flight Officer Robert Nordan.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Hatchell Edwards, formerly of Harrodsburg; his mother, Mrs. W. E. Edwards, Dallas, Texas, a four-year-old son, David K Edwards III, and one brother, William Crosby Edwards of Oklahoma City, Okla.

NANCY EDWARDS MCMAHAN MOODY
Nancy Edwards McMahan Moody, 88, passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, 2012 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, Tenn. She was born on Sept. 5, 1924 in Morristown where she was a lifelong resident until she and her husband, Jack, moved to the Mayfair House Assisted Living in Cedar Bluff, Va. in August of 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar L. and Nancy Mae Edwards McMahan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Hoover Moody. They were happily married for 66 years.
She is also survived by three daughters, Jane Mulkey and husband, Peter of Pounding Mill, Va., Suzie Jaynes and husband, Thomas of Pfafftown, N.C., and Janlyn Moody of Knoxville. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Ben and Eric Mulkey of Pounding Mill, Va., Beth Jaynes Turner of Raleigh, N.C. and Abby Jaynes also of Raleigh, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Knox Turner of Raleigh, N.C.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Jan. 5, at Jarnigan Cemetery in Morristown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Daily Bread Community Kitchen, PO Box 1458, Morristown, TN 37816 or the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, 106 Veterans Drive, Richlands, VA 24641.

After serving in the U.S. Navy for 6 years, he worked as personnel manager at Berkline and Forest Products. He retired from BASF, formerly American Enka, in 1989. He was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church in Morristown, Tennessee. Jack enjoyed playing golf and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Edwards Moody and one sister, June Watson.
