Dorothy Virginia Ransford, 85, of Napa, passed away peacefully Feb. 17, 2011, at a local care home.
Born Nov. 13, 1925, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Harry Benjamin and Anna Dorothy Kopf Jones. In 1943, she married William Franklin Ransford, her childhood sweetheart.
Mrs. Ransford was preceded in death by her husband, William, and by her brother, Harry. She is survived by her two sons, William R. Ransford (Amy) of Napa and Ronald B. Ransford (Mary) of Napa; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. Scott (Erick) of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Oceano J. Ransford of Los Angeles; one great-grandson, Alistair Scott; brother, Leonard V. Jones (Patty) of Seattle; and Harry’s wife, Barbara Jones, also of Seattle.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Treadway and Wigger Funeral Chapel. Committal will be private at Tulocay Cemetery.
