Eunice was a lifelong Princeton, Kansas resident with the exception of about six years living in California, Washington and Nebraska.
She attended Victory Rural Grade School and Princeton High School. She also graduated from Cosmetology School in Dodge City, Kansas.
She was a seamstress at H.D. Lee of Ottawa and was a beautician at Professional Beauty Shop and Ella's Beauty Salon. She also styled hair for the residents of Cedar House and Crestview Nursing Homes in Ottawa.
She was a member of the Princeton Christian Church.
On March 8, 1930, Eunice was united in marriage with E.M. ‘Abe' Lantz at Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1959.
She is survived by her Daughter-Marian A. McCleary and her husband, Tim, Pomona, KS; Brother - Robert J. Lloyd and his wife, Marilyn, Penn Valley,CA; Grandchildren - Seven; Great-grandchildren - Eighteen; Great-great-grandchildren - Twenty.
She was preceded in death by her Husband - E.M. Age 88, passed away peacefully The Gardens in Yuba City CA, on May 5, 2012. Bob was born in Princeton, KS to Walter Lloyd and Nora Witt-Lloyd. Bob was one of seven children. He attended both Princeton Grammar School and High School. He was an outstanding student and excellent in both basketball and baseball. At graduation he was scouted by the Kansas City Blues, an affiliated of the New York Yankees Organization. W.W.II intervened and Bob joined the Army Air Corp, 794th Bombardment Squadron, 463rd Bomb Group. He was stationed in Bari, Italy where he was a tail gunner on a B-17 (Flying Fortress) taking part in the war efforts in the Balkens, Po Valley, No. Apennines, Central Europe and the Rhineland. He received the EAME Theater Medal, Air Medal with 2 OLC and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Staff Sergeant. After the War, he attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS and Kansas University. He was proud to have known Fog Allen. Coming West, he lived in Martinez and Chico with his brothers and sisters. He attended Chico State where he earned a BA in Education and played baseball. Bob started his professional career in the Live Oak School District. In 1949, he became a seventh grade teacher; 1950 Vice Principal; 1952 Principal and 1958 Superintendent of Schools in Live Oak, CA. He is responsible for organizing and developing the Community Ball Fields and Swimming Pool. Structures that are enjoyed to this day by the citizens of Live Oak. In 1960 he accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools for the Brisbane School District in San Mateo County. While there, he attended Stanford University and earned both his MA and Doctorate in Education Administration. His Dissertation was; A Year Around School Schedule - The Financial Implications In California. His colleagues often referred to him as "The Dean of San Mateo County." When it came to school finance and budgeting, there was no one better in the County. Bob held memberships in many professional organizations and had served on various State, County, District and Local committees. He served on the State Small School District, ACSA; the State School Building Aid Comm., ACSA; the State Advisory Comm. on Year-Around Schools and was an advisor for various school districts in the State for Year-Around Schools. He also served 2 years as Chairperson of the School Employer's Assoc. of Northern California; served on the College of Notre Dame Advanced Degree and School Administrative Credential Advisory Comm. and 4 years on the Advisory Comm. to the Dean of Education at San Francisco State University. In addition, Bob was President of the Sutter County Administrator's Assoc., President of San Mateo County Superintendents' Assoc. and served as title II Programs Consultant for the State Dept. of Ed. His list of community activities is equally as lengthy. For 10 years, he served on the Live Oak Park and Recreation Comm., serving as chairperson for 2 years. He was also Secretary and President of the Live Oak Little League Baseball Organization for several years. He was Secretary and President of the Live Oak Kiwanis Club. He was the youngest to serve as Kiwanis Club President. He has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America serving for 11 years as a counselor. He holds an Honorary Life Membership in the PTA and was a member of the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce, The San Bruno Mountain Habitat Conservation Planning Comm. and the North San Mateo County Task Force on Childcare. Bob leaves behind a wife, Marilyn, daughter, Karen Sindelar, granddaughter, Shelby Ford Thompson and husband, Nick; grandsons, Jesse Lloyd, Chad Sindelar, Jason Lloyd, Shawn Dohmen and great granddaughter, Shayla Jewell Thompson; Nephews, Garry Howes, Doug Sears and Tim McCleary; niece Marian McCleary; daughters-in-law, Nancy Lloyd, Fai Callaway Lloyd and step granddaughter Lauren Callaway; 98 year old cousin, Pearl Thomas and several nieces and nephews in Kansas. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Lloyd and brothers Lowell Lloyd, Warren Lloyd, Hobart Lloyd and sisters Eunice Lantz, Irene Howes and Zelma Sears. The funeral will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 9, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA 95991. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville, CA.
