She retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1958. Opal was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #3. She was a born again Christian. Opal was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nana and sister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Minnie Patterson; husband Russell P. Sells in 2005; six sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include her sons Rickey D. Sells, W. Emory Sells and wife Dianna; grandchildren Crystal VanHuss and husband Richard of Elizabethton, TN, William E. Sells III and fiancée Stephanie Owens, Brandie M. Sells and Shawna Collins and husband, Curtis; great-grandchildren Bryce and Bailee VanHuss, Haylie, Jordyn and Christian Sells, Makenna Sells and Brentyn Collins; sister-in-law Iva Dell Patterson of Church Hill, TN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Opal Sells.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
