Hilda "Babs" Jennings, 91, of Astoria, formerly of Browning, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center in Astoria.
She was born July 2, 1912, in Sheldons Grove, the daughter of Henry and Florence (McElroy) Boyd.
She married Elbert "Al" Jennings April 19, 1948, in Peoria. He died Dec. 5, 1981.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis, Otis, and Guy Boyd.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Jennings of Usk, Wash., and Al (wife Jan) Jennings of Peoria; two grandchildren, Richard Jennings of Spokane, Wash., and Amy C. Swannack of St. John, Wash.; three great-granddaughters; six sisters, Edna Shilling of Browning, Estel Vaughn of Albany, Ore., Nelda Lane of Browning, Edith O'Dell of Phoenix, Ariz.; Bula Milham of Browning; and Glenna Burchett of Panama City, Fla., and one brother, Burl C. Boyd of Browning.
She had been a restaurant manager and homemaker.
Services were Monday, Sept. 15, at Browning Cemetery with Gary Sheets officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of services.

Lewis Boyd, 86, of Browning, died at 12:55 a.m. Thursday at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
He was born Sept. 6, 1907, in Sheldons Grove, the son of Henry and Florence McElroy Boyd. He married Erma Markley in 1926 in Rushville. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Anna Mae Knous; a son, Teddy Boyd; and a brother, Otis.
Mr. Boyd farmed in the Browning area, was a self-employed commercial fisherman, a livestock producer, and a guide for duck hunters along the Illinois River. He also worked at Schuyler-Brown Farm Service in Rushville, Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown and for the Illinois Department of Conservation. He was a member of Browning United Methodist Church and the Bushnell Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Erma; a son, John of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Stambaugh of Browning and Mrs. Floyd (Jane) Ray of Washington; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guy Boyd and Burl C. Boyd, both of Browning; seven sisters, Edna Mae "Jackie" Schilling, Hildreth "Babs" Jennings and Mrs. Carlyle (Nelda) Lane, all of Browning; Estel Vaughn of Albany, Ore., Beulah Millham and Glenna Geisler, both of Crestview, Fla., and Edith O'Dell of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Browning United Methodist Church, the Rev. Harold Hedden officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church. There is a genealogy on Ancestry.com that says one of their girls married a son of Esco Ivy Beggs (Dalton, Wayne, Robert or Lowell) and had daughter, Louann Beggs.

Born May 21, 1926, in Browning to Henry M. and Florence McElroy Boyd, he married Lenore Kerska on Jan. 12, 1948, in Virginia, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Charlotte) Thompson of Havana and Donna Boyd of Browning; one brother, Burl of Browning; seven sisters, Edna "Jackie" Shilling, Hilda "Babs" Jennings, Nelda Lane, Bula Milham and Glenna Geisler, all of Browning, Estel Vaughn of Albany, Ore., and Edith O'Dell of Phoenix; one granddaughter; two stepgrandsons; and one great-granddaughter. Two brothers and one grandson preceded him in death.
A World War II Army veteran, he served in the Philippine liberation and the occupation of Japan. He was a member of Astoria American Legion for 43 years.
He and his brother, Otis, owned and operated Boyd Bros. IGA Grocery for 14 years. He retired in 1984 as a carpenter.
He was a member of Carpenters Local 644 and a charter member of Browning Fire Department. He was a member of Browning Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church. The Rev. Joe Tomich will officiate. Calling hours will be after 4 p.m. today at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or his church.

Surviving are daughers Charlotte Thompson of Havana and Donna Boyd of Browning, granddaughter Brenda Fagan of Ingleside, and great granddaughter Jackie Fagan, also of Ingleside; two step grandsons Bobby Thompson, Jr. and Justin Thompson of Havana, brother Burl C. Boyd of Browning, sisters Edna Mae Shilling, Hilda Jennings, Nelda Lane, Bula Milham, Glenna Geisler, all residents of Browning, Estel Vaughn of Albany, Oregon, and Edith O'Dell of Phoenix, Arizona. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Edna Mae Shilling, 96, of Browning, formerly of Peoria, died at 11:27 p.m. Dec. 19, 2006, at her home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Browning Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Henry and Florence McElroy Boyd. She married Robert Clyde Shilling on Dec. 31, 1944, in Peoria. He died Aug. 17, 1944.
Also preceding her in death were one sister, Hilda "Babs" Jennings; and three brothers, Lewis, Otis and Guy Boyd.
Surviving are five sisters, Estel Vaughn of Albany, Ore., Nelda Lane and Bula Milham, both of Browning, Edith O'Dell of Phoenix, Ariz., and Glenna (and James) Burkett of Panama City, Fla.; and one brother, Burl C. Boyd of Browning.
She worked for Hiram Walker in Peoria for many years.
Graveside services were held Thursday at Browning Cemetery with Gary Sheets officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Browning United Methodist Church. Burial: Browning Cemetery. Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville is in charge of arrangements. There is a genealogy on Ancestry.com that says one of their girls married a son of Esco Ivy Beggs (Dalton, Wayne, Robert or Lowell) and had daughter, Louann Beggs.

BROWNING - Teddy L. "Ted" Boyd, 65, of Rushville, formerly of Browning, died at 12:41 p.m. Friday, April 9, 1993, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Born Jan. 8, 1928, in Fulton County to Lewis and Erma Markley Boyd, he married Donna Croxton on Dec. 11, 1959, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Browning; one son, Teddy L. of Oklahoma City; one brother, John L. of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Stambaugh of Browning and Mrs. Floyd (Jane) Ray of Washington; and three grandsons. One sister preceded him in death.
He was a miner at Amex Coal Mine in Vermont for 24 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America. He also farmed in Browning.
A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Browning, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mark Bledsoe will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville, where military rites will be accorded at 8 p.m. by Schuyler American Legion. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church.
