Funeral services for Lean C. Lee Hagest, 102, of New Albany, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at the First Church of God, 2248 Charlestown Road, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died, going to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, March 18, 2012.
She was a native of Winchester, Ky. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1930. She has been an extremely active member of the First Church of God where she served as the nursery attendant and was the Stewardship Chairman of the Missionary Society. She always showed God’s love by preparing meals and helping others.
She is survived by her foster daughter, Gayle Sappenfield; one brother, Charles Lee; one sister, Loretta Eaton, both of Louisville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel V. Hagest; her parents, George W. and Alma Watts Lee; five sisters; three brothers; and two half brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany, and after 10 a.m. Thursday, at the church.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Children's Ministry at the First Church of God.
