Dixon Couple, Rock Falls Man Killed as Auto Rolls
DIXON - Verdicts of accidental death were returned by a Lee county coroner's jury following an inquest into the death of a Dixon couple and a Rock Falls man killed early Sunday in an auto accident east of here.
Killed in the crash were Walter Schultheis, 26, Dixon, who died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday in Dixon Public Hospital of a skull fracture and internal injuries; his wife, Beatrice, 28, killed instantly; and Kenneth Wallace, 28, R.R. 2, Rock Falls, who died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday of a skull fracture.
Wallace's wife was reported in fair condition Monday in Dixon hospital with head lacerations and an injury to her left leg, suffered in the accident. She is a sister of Mrs. Schultheis.
The accident occurred when their speeding car, driven by Mr. Wallace, rolled over on an Illinois highway 2 curve two miles east of Dixon, Lee county deputy sheriffs and state police said. All four were thrown from the car.
Coroner Robert Preston, Dixon, conducted the inquest Sunday in Melvin funeral home here.
Rites Tuesday
Services for Mr. and Mrs. Schultheis will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Melvin funeral home, Dixon, with the Rev. Morgan Davis, pastor of First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial park. Friends may call in the funeral home.
Mr. Schultheis was born here July 13, 1929. He was employed by Shoemaker Coal company, Dixon.
Surviving are his father, George Schultheis, and his mother, Mrs Olin Dockery, both of Dixon; five sons, Allan, 2 months; Danny, 2; Gary, 3; Glen, 5; and Neil, 8; four brothers, Dean, Alvin, and Paul, all of Dixon; and Frederick, in the air force; and three sisters, Mrs Glyndora Eckerd, Oregon; Mrs. Ruby Walker and Susie Schultheis, both of Dixon.
Beatrice Arlene Schultheis was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Ashton.
Surviving in addition to her sons are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gobright, Ashton; three sisters, including Mrs. Marion Piercy, Richview, and Mrs. Shirley Wallace, R.R. 2, Ashton; and a brother, Dallas, at home.
Dixon Services
Services for Mr. Wallace will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Melvin funeral home, with the Rev. Wilbur Silvers, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, Oregon, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Dixon. Friends may call in the funeral home.
Kenneth Eugene Wallace was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Sterling, son of Wardro and Grace Bailey Wallace.
Surviving are his widow, Shirley; two sons, Michael, 5, and Mark, 4, and a daughter Sharon, 2, all at home; his mother, Mrs Howard Gutshall, Sterling; a brother, Warren and a sister, Ava Lou Wallace, born to Sterling.
