SCHOPF-Lela Merie (Dove), age 91, Lincoln, NE, died August 5, 2008 in Lincoln. Born on July 31 1917 in Waverly, to James Everett Dove and Hazel Dove (Tilman); she spent her childhood on a farm near Raymond and was a 1934 graduate of Jackson High School in University Place. On October 10, 1944 she married Fred Schopf of Alliance; they have one son. Lela was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Lincoln first residing at 2965 Holdrege from 1951 to 2002; since that time at Clark Jeary Retirement Home from 2002 to 2007 and Tabitha Health Care from 2007 until her death. From 1975 to 2000 she enjoyed winters in St. Petersburg, Florida. An ever devoted daughter and mother; she was active in her community and the First Christian Church where she was a member for more than 50 years. Lela was preceded in death by her father, (1972), mother (1978), husband (1983) and only Brother Lloyd Everett Dove (2006). She is survived by her son, Morris Lynn Schopf and daughter-in-law Sue Weaver Schopf of Salem, Massachusetts and one grandson, Winston Christopher Schopf-Kelly, of New York City, sister-in law, Eldine Dove, Lincoln; niece, Barbara Frohlich, Omaha; nephew Roland Bolinger and wife Linda, Lincoln; grand niece Leah James, Lincoln, grand nephew Jon Frohlich of Denver and many other nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to her tireless and loving care providers at both Tabitha Health Care Center and the Clark Jeary Retirement Home who made her final years both comfortable and meaningful. Cremation. No visitation. Memorial Service on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 10:15 at the Chapel of Tabitha Health Care Center, 4720 Randolph Street, Lincoln, Nebraska with private burial to follow at the Oak Bluff Cemetery near Raymond, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to Hospice of Tabitha, 4720 Randolph, Lincoln, NE 68510; the First Christian Church, 430 South 16th, Lincoln 68508 and the Malone Community Center, 2032 U Street, Lincoln, NE 68503
