They have been instrumental in helping to raise money for improving their church and adding an educational building. Educational buildings, or halls, such as this, provide a place for the younger ones to receive both religious education and wholesome recreation.

More and more, the descendants of George Michael are seeking work away from home. Tractors have come into use in this area and the small fields have been combined to make fields large enough to make the use of tractors economically feasible. Gertrude, daughter of Georg Michael Funkner, has worked in a glass factory. Her brother, Paul, has worked for an oil company. Another descendant was training to be a nurse or social worker before her tragic death in 1966.

The descendants of George Michael and his wife are striving for the betterment of their homes and communities and, like their American cousins, are succeeding in realizing at least a part of their goals.
