Oklahoma, USA
Death: Apr. 30, 2007
Lebanon
Linn County
Oregon, USA
Exa was born on September 16th, 1924 in Meridian, western Oklahoma, to Arthur and Exa Cox. The family soon moved to Oklahoma City, where her father found life-long employment as a city police officer and her sister, Jeannie was born. Exa, then known as Willadean, graduated from Central High School in 1942.
She was briefly married to Samuel Robinson, with whom she had two children, Michael and Pamela. In the late 1940's she was trained as a bookkeeper, and worked in that position until she met and married Francis Everett Davalt in 1954. They established their new home in Houston, Texas, and her children were soon adopted by Everett.
In 1960 the family moved to Del City, Oklahoma, then to Tulsa a few years later. Exa and Everett bought their last home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Her much beloved husband, Everett, died in January, 1980. Afterwards, Exa moved back to Oklahoma City to be close to her daughter and family, then in 1995, Exa moved once more, this time to Lebanon, Oregon where she would be close to her son, Michael Davalt and his wife, Susan Kirk-Davalt. Exa's first Oregon home was at the Oaks Retirement Center of Lebanon. When she broke her hip in 2000, she was transferred to the Mennonite Home to recover from surgery. This soon became her permanent residence, and she enjoyed a peaceful life there.
In late April, 2007, Exa became ill and was transferred to the Lebanon Community Hospital. Her illness gradually worsened, until finally, on April 30th at 1:24 am, she died. Exa's son, Michael was at her bedside. Exa Willadean Davalt was 82 years old. At a later date, Exa will be interred at Tulsa's Memorial Cemetery beside the grave of her late husband, Everett.
Exa is survived by her daughter Pamela, and her son, Michael. Her sister Jeannie Cassil lives in Florissant, Colorado. Additional survivors include her grandaughter Andrea, her two great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Sarah Morris, and her grandson David.
The family respectfully requests that any remembrances be directed to the Mennonite Village Foundation in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355.
