Exactly seven months later, on 12 Nov 1933, the couple's son, John Randolph Ferris, Jr., was born It appears from the DNA results that were obtained by John Randolph Ferris Jr.'s grandson (William Joseph Ferris-Craig) that he, John Jr., was actually the biological son of Francis Everett Davalt. Both Francis and Joanne were living in San Pedro when she became pregnant. It is suspected that none of the people involved knew that Francis was the biological father of John Jr.
The San Pedro City Directory shows that John Randolph Ferris, Sr. and Joanne Dee Collins were still living together in 1934. In the 1940 Census, John Jr. was living with his father and a step mother named Gladas (spelling?). John Randolph Ferris, Sr. was buried next to his last wife, Catherine Genevieve (Leer) Ferris. At this time I do not know what became of Joanne Dee (Collins) Ferris.

Note: There is a record of a Joanne D. Collins marrying a Gaston South. That is not our Joanne Dee Collins.
