BASIC FACTS
Julia Bangs Clements was born on 15 May 1874 in Missouri.4,2 She and William Milton Broyles were married on 28 November 1900 in Saint Louis, Saint Louis Co., Missouri.5 She died on 14 April 1912, at age 37, in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado.4,5 She was buried in Sheridan Cemetery, Auburn, Nemaha Co., Nebraska.6 She was buried in Saint Louis, Saint Louis County, Missouri.7 Julia Bangs Clements had reference number 15902. She was enumerated on the census in Saint Louis, Saint Louis City County, Missouri (1900.) Dr. Franklin Hunt Broyles provided the following information in a letter to Rachel Sophia (DeVault) McLean, dated February 19, 1934:
Will married Julia Clements of St Louis, a very noted young woman, and they lived in Denver Colo, Some friends were visiting them, and she was going to take them for a drive over the city, and in some way fell on some stone steps, and was severly injures, internally, the trouble finally developing into a cancerous condition, which caused her death, in I think 1912, Her people were Catholics, and she was an only child, and Will allowed them to bury her in a Catholic cemetery in St. Louis, Will never recovered from her death, and finally give up his business and come to us, where he lingered a few yeares, and died in 1915, and I buried him in a beautiful Cemetery at Auburn Nebraska, He was a member of the Christian Church, and refused to be buried in a catholic cemetery, altho he worshiped his wife, They had no children.
Note: Rhonda Johnson says that there is a common stone for Julia and William in the Sheridan Cemetery, Auburn, Nebraska. It is possible that Julia is really buried in Saint Louis and that the stone in Auburn is just for William and Julia's name on the stone is for memorial purposes.
Note: Julia (age 26) is shown in the 1900 Census living with a Kate Clements (age 47) in Saint Louis, Missouri. Kate was probably Julia's mother. Kate died 15 December 1936 in Saint Louis. She and William Milton Broyles had children in No Children.1

Early in the season, a writer for the student newspaper expressed approval of the new department: "As the days wear on, it is more and more apparent how much a well-functioning publicity unit has done to further the Tennessee cause in other sections. . . . The athletic counsel made its wisest move in its functioning history in deciding to inaugurate a publicity department." The student writer perceptively made note of the importance of the national mass media in constructing the image of the Tennessee football program. As for the new public relations director, the student organ said: "If scribes feel more kindly towards the University after covering a game from the press box, the athletic authorities will have Jack Joyner to thank. [The article goes on continuing to praise Jack Joyner.]
