FRANCES ELIZABETH BROYLES
A dainty baby daughter was born to Lieut. and Mrs. Watkins Broyles last Thursday, October 17th, at the home of her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. F. H. Broyles in our city. A cable was at once sent to the father who is "over there," informing him of the good news. A cable had been received the day before from Lieut. Broyles saying he was all O. K. The little girl has been given the pretty name of Frances Elizabeth. All getting along nicely. Dr. and Mrs. Broyles now have two grandchildren, the fathers of both babies being "over there" fighting for us.
OBITUARY - Albuquerque Journal Obituaries, Albuquerque, New Mexico Friday, Jan 23, 2009
STOUT - Frances Elizabeth Stout died peacefully on December 21, 2008, the winter soltice. "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." John 11:25 - 26. Frances was born Frances Elizabeth Broyles on October 17, 1918 to Ethyl Frances Swan and Watkins A. Broyles in Bethany, Missouri. She was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Franklin Broyles. Frances was inspired at an early age by her grandfather, father, aunt and uncle to pursue a career in medicine. Frances graduated from Bethany High School in 1936 and matriculated to Wellesley College where her aunt, Dr. Elizabeth Broyles, was the resident physician. She graduated in 1940 with a degree in chemistry and moved to Chicago where she was one of four women admitted by Northwestern Medical School. Frances met her future husband, James Stout, there and they were married on December 28, 1941. Once married, Frances left medical school, but her interest in medicine never abated. She received a Master's degree in the young science of neurology and published research on the regeneration of nerve tissue. In 1952 Frances and Jim moved to Albuquerque which would be her beloved home for the rest of her life. Here she raised her family and became an active and valued member of the community, with great interest in antiques and gardening. Although Jim's death just 10 days before their fortieth wedding anniversary caused Frances great sorrow, the quarter century by which she survived him was full of events and adventure. She reconnected with the medical profession, enthusiastically serving for over 10 years as an assistant to Dr. Don Pichler. She traveled extensively, including Syria, Finland, France and climbed the Great Wall of China. She was a lively and devoted grandmother to her three granddaughters. Frances was a member of PEO for nearly 70 years, and was a founding member of Chapter AD in Albuquerque. Frances was a devout Christian and member of the Monte Vista Christian Church for over 50 years. She put her great love of gardening and flowers to the service of the church and arranged the flowers for Sunday services for over 20 years and was active in Faith's Journey and the Searchers Sunday School class. Frances is survived by daughter Margaret Stout Whiting and son-in-law Robert Whiting of Espoo, Finland, and son David Stout and daughter-in-law Mary Malwitz of Albuquerque; and three granddaughters Marlena Whiting, Kelly Stout and Johanna Stout, and brothers Dan Broyles and Gerald Broyles. The family requests that you remember Frances by making a donation to Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless, PO Box 25445, Albuquerque NM 87125. The family plans a Memorial Service at Monte Vista Christian Church in April. Please visit our online guest book for Frances at RememberTheirStory.com.

Elton B Hunt, Jr, passed away at his home at Inverness Village in Tulsa on Thursday July 17, 2014.
Elton was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 28, 1922 to Elton B Hunt, Sr and Olive Eagleton Hunt. He married Peggy French on Dec 13, 1942 in Valparaiso, Indiana. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas, and a doctorate in Chemistry from Iowa State University. Their eldest child, Alice Lucille, was born in Chicago in 1945 and the older son, Marshall B, was born in Ames, Iowa in 1947. The family moved to Tulsa in 1950, after which the younger daughter, Lois Jeanette, was born in 1953 and the younger son, David Elton, was born in 1955.
Elton served as a Naval Officer during World War II, and then began his career as a research chemist for Standard Oil of Indiana. He continued with the same company for all of his career and made significant contributions to petroleum chemistry.
Two of his favorite hobbies were learning new things and traveling. Elton and Peggy combined these 2 loves and traveled extensively, staying frequently in Elder-Hostels where they would take whatever classes were offered there. They traveled to Australia & New Zealand, Alaska, Hawaii, England & Scotland, the Holy Lands and many other places.
Elton was also an avid gardener, and was equally successful with vegetables, fruit trees, and flowers. He provided his family and friends with fresh vegetables for many years and the family still enjoys many of the things he planted.
He was also an excellent handyman, including designing and overseeing the building of the home they lived in for many years. He kept it up well enough that it is still in the family today.
As a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Elton was active with Volunteers in Missions and served in Costa Rica, Bolivia and several places around Oklahoma.
Over the years, Elton & Peggy have supported many missionaries and charities but one of their favorites has been Shepherd's Fold Ranch in Avant, OK. From the earliest days of the Christian youth camp they have been strong supporters and sent as many of their grandchildren as wanted to go. Now we're into the next generation and there has been one of Elton Hunt's descendants at SFR every summer since Alice's son, Mark, started it off in 1980.
Elton is survived by four children, eleven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is pending.

Margaret Lucille French Hunt, known to most people as Peggy, passed away at her home at Inverness Village in Tulsa on Monday, June 11, 2012.
Peggy was born in Knox, Indiana on May 31, 1921 to Marshall & Lois French. She married Elton B. Hunt Jr on Dec 13, 1942 in Valparaiso, Indiana.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Arkansas.
Peggy had an adventuresome spirit. She joined the ranks of pioneers by earning her pilot’s license with the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. Peggy earned her teaching certificate when she was in her 40’s and did some substitute teaching for Tulsa Public Schools. However after a long-term substitute position, she decided teaching wasn’t for her and returned to her best job as a wife, mother and homemaker. Community service was always important to Peggy and she served many years on the Tulsa County election board, as well as being a volunteer at the City of Faith hospital for many years.
Two of her favorite hobbies were learning new things and traveling. She and Elton combined these 2 loves and traveled extensively, staying frequently in Elder-Hostels where they would take whatever classes were offered there. They traveled to Australia & New Zealand, Alaska, Hawaii, England & Scotland, the Holy Lands and many other places.
As long time members of First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Elton and Peggy found another way to combine 2 important aspects of their lives by traveling with the Volunteers in Missions group to Costa Rica and other places. While in Costa Rica, Elton was working in construction and Peggy was working with the women in the kitchen. She discovered that the only knife they had for cutting fruits and vegetables was a huge machete. She managed, but when Elton went back the next year, she sent several paring knives with him to be donated to the women of the mission!
Peggy began writing poetry as an expression of her faith in and love for her savior, Jesus Christ. She wrote poems for holidays, birthdays, births, marriages, retirements and any other time the Spirit moved her to do so, and shared them with family and friends.
Over the years, Elton & Peggy have supported many missionaries and charities but one of their favorites has been Shepherd’s Fold Ranch in Avant, OK. From the earliest beginnings of the Christian youth camp they have been strong supporters and began sending any of their grandchildren who wanted to go since the 1980’s. Now we’re into the next generation and there has been a Hunt descendant at SFR every Summer since Alice’s son, Mark, started it off in 1980.
Peggy is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Elton B Hunt Jr of the home; 4 children: Alice Taylor and husband John, Marshall Hunt and wife Pam, Lois Stark and husband Carl, David Hunt and wife Jeanne; 11 grandchildren: Mark Taylor, David Taylor and Susanna Boggs, Elizabeth Thigpen Hunt, Anna Thigpen Hunt, Ryan Kennedy and Meghan Kennedy, Brian Schmidt, Matthew Hunt, James Hunt, and Joshua Hunt; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Jeanette Loring; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Inverness Village on Thursday, June 14 at 10am, officiated by Rev. James Hunt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, PO Box 39, Avant, OK 74001 or may be made at their website: shepherdsfoldranch.com. Please put “in memory of Peggy Hunt” on your check or in the “comments” section of the donation form on the website.
The family would like to thank the many friends who have expressed their love and prayers. WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT
