Dr. William A. Steed Sr., 83, of Ingleside Drive, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Ken Wilson officiating.
Dr. Steed, a native of Augusta, had retired as a physician and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of University of Georgia and Medical College of Georgia. He was a member of American College of Surgeons and American Board of Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists.
Survivors include his wife, Jennette Beals Steed; a son, William A. Steed Jr., Atlanta; a daughter, Jan Burk, Columbia; and six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Roland K. (Pinky) Bales
BULLS GAP - Roland K. "Pinky" Bales, 75, of Bulls Gap, died Monday at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Bales was born in Casa Grande, Ariz., and moved to Jonesborough at an early age.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
In 1953, he went to work as a steamfitter at John Sevier Steam Plant in Rogersville, and retired after 36 years of service.
Mr. Bales was a member of Steamfitters Union Local #538.
He was known as a "loyal" member of Bulls Gap First United Methodist Church, where he served in a number of positions.
Mr. Bales was also a member of Rogersville Camp of The Gideons International and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bulls Gap Post #9683, and a former member of Bulls Gap Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Mary Nell Bales; his daughter and son-in-law: Jane and Mack Turner of Kingsport; a former son-in-law and his wife: Paul and Debbie Byrd of Kingsport; two granddaughters: Shannon Turner of Blacksburg, Va., and Jennie Turner of Jonesborough; two grandsons: Justin Byrd and Bryan Byrd, both of Kingsport; a brother: John Beals of Jonesborough; two sisters: Mrs. Ann Godsey of Johnson City and Mrs. Jeanette Steede of Augusta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a son of the late David and Avie Bales and was preceded in death by two children: Kathy Bales Byrd and Ken Bales Jr.; and his twin brother: Russell Beals.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at Wilson Funeral Home in Bulls Gap.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Bill Hughes and the Rev. Charles Davis will officiate.
Family and friends will meet at Wilson Funeral
Home at 9 o'clock Thursday morning to go in procession to Philadelphia Cemetery in Washington County for a graveside service at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Bill Lichlyter will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Justin Byrd, Bryan Byrd, Darrell Beals, Worth Wheeler, John Peeler, and R.C. Hybarger.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Joe Layman Sunday School Class and fellow Gideon members.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bulls Gap First UM Church or The Gideons International.

FLORAL CITY, Fla. ? John Thomas Beals, Sr. 78, Floral City, died at his daughter?s residence on April 4, 2007, under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.
A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he was born on June 15, 1928, to the late David and Avie (Petty) Beals and moved to Florida 13 years ago from Jonesborough, Tennessee.
He was a spot welder in the assembly line of the General Motors Plant in Baltimore for 39 years and a shoe repairman at the Farmer's Market. He was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church and attended the Floral City United Methodist Church, loved playing cards, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris Beals, on September 15, 2004; two brothers, Kenneth Bales and Russell Beals; and one sister, Ann Godsey.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Keith (May) Beals, St. Petersburg, FL, John T. (Barbara) Beals Jr. Baltimore, MD, Darrell Shawn (Becky) Beals, Jonesborough, TN, and Robert (Geraldene) Booker, Joppa, MD; four daughters, Gwendolyn Lynn (Robert) Wimmer Piazza, Floral City, FL, Geraldene Annette (Robert) Booker, Joppa, MD, Barbara (John T. Jr.) Beals, Baltimore, MD, and Becky (Darrell) Beals, Jonesborough, TN; two sisters, Jeannette Steed, Augusta, GA, and Mary Nell Bales, Bulls Gap, TN; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mack Turner and Rev. Brad Scott officiating. Interment will be follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
