He returned to Lakeland and was a salesman for Tomlinson and then Tinney Cadillac for over 30 years. He was a member of Southland Masonic Lodge #256, Lakeland and a 54 years member of the Masonic order, also was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War, Inc. He was of Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Godbold and is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Dollar and Donnie Mills; a sister, Pearl Godbold; a brother, Bill Godbold. Jack's friends and family affectionately referred to him as "Good Buddy."
Services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 10 a.m. from the Gentry-Morrison, Southside Chapel with visitation from 9-10 a.m. before services. Interment will be at Oak Hill Burial Park following the services.

BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Louella S. Rose, age 71, of 38 22nd St., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2003, in the Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a native of Blountville and was the daughter of the late Isaac and Zola Goodman Shipley. She was a retired employee of the Bristol Tennessee School Systems. She was a member of the Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Ladies Circle and Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bascom S. Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Rose were active members of the Happy Hearts Club.
Survivors include one son, David Rose and wife, Connie, of Bristol Tennessee; grandchildren, Christopher, Tiffany, Michael, Nathan, and Blake; sister, Mary Eva Gillikin, of Johnson City; aunt, Ida Poe, of Johnson City; and special sister-in-law, Evenlyn Shipley, of Bristol Virginia.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Price officiating. Committal services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Glenwood Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 7:45 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home. JOHNSON CITY - A. H. (Mage) Hale, 88, died at Johnson City Memorial Hospital at 11:09 a.m. Sunday after an extended illness.
He was a retired carpenter and contactor, a native and life-time resident of Washington County and a member of the Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Geisler Hale; two sons, Clarence Hale, Jonesboro and J. Howard Hale, Kingsport, two daughters, Mrs. Ruby L. Shipley, and Mrs. J. D. Story, both of Johnson City; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Central Baptist Church with Dr. James Canaday officiating. Burial will be in Monte Vista Burial Park.
The body will remain at Appalachian Chapel in Johnson City where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church one hour before sevices.
