MISSION - Floyd O. "Toad" Ross, 89, passed away at his home Thursday, May 28, 2009. He was born to Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Ross on June 7, 1919 in Mission, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Garlin Ross, his sister Aleene Ross Virdell, and his loving wives Julie Granpierre Ross and Mildred Matzen Ross and nephew Morris Ross and wife Gail.
He is survived his sons Ted (Marcia) Ross, Richard (Crystal) Matzen, Tom (Pug) Matzen, daughters Judy (Gerald+) Masel and Shirley (Albin) Jewell. He is also survived by his nieces Mayebeth (Wayne) Scott, Judy (Arthur) Mangum, and nephew Bill (Evelyn) Ross.
Toad was in the automotive business all his working life. He was a 50 year Mason, past Master of Mission Masonic Lodge #1061 where his received his 33 degree.
Toad was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather to his extended family. A good friend with a great smile, he loved good times, traveling and fishing with family and friends. He is missed.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Steve Havener and staff, Odyssey Hospice, and loving caregivers Sonia Alvarado, Sara Davila, and Amy Munoz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Palm Valley Animal Center, 2501 Trenton, Edinburg, TX, 78539, the Mission Historical Museum, 900 Doherty, Mission, TX, 78572 or a memorial of your choice.
A Masonic graveside service will be held Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
