A native of Piney Flats she was a member of the First Christian Church of Jonesboro and had been a resident of the Washington College Academy for one year.
Survivors are her husband, Fred L. Morris; a daughter, Mrs. J. Fred Griffith Jr. of Knoxville; son, Jack L. Morris, Route 2, Piney Flats; sisters, Mrs. Lester Dougherty, Kingsport; Mrs. Ed Vance and Mrs. Gail Hagy, both of Bristol; brothers, Bernice and Lowell Jones, Piney Flats; Paul Jones, Asheville, N.C.; Ivan Sr. and Howard Jones, both of Kingsport, and J. W. Jones of California and six grandchildren.

JONES, CLYDE LOWELL PINEY FLATS – Clyde Lowell Jones, 84, passed from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father at 2 a.m. Feb. 4, 2002, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, having been in declining health for several years. He was born July 5, 1917, the first son of the late George Whitfield and Lelia Patton Smith Jones. Lowell was a faithful member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church, Piney Flats, which he had attended since he was a small boy. Lowell was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having served under Gen. George Patton in the European Theater. He was assigned to the 802nd Field Artillery Unit of the Third Army as a sergeant responsible for 15 men. Their primary duty was to lay communication wire for telephones and switchboards. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Five Battle Star. He was preceded in death by: eight brothers and sisters, Bernice, Ivan, Girlie, Paul, Herman and Beulah Kate Jones, Zura Griffith and Allie Morris; his first wife, Helen Mantz Jones; and his second wife, Mary Ellen Shell Lane Jones. Survivors include: three sisters, Georgia Lee Vance and Naomi Hagy, both of Bristol, and Ruth Daugherty, Kingsport; two brothers, Howard Jones, Blountville, and John W. Jones, El Centro, Calif.; brother-in-law, Gayle Hagy, Bristol, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Florence Jones, Blountville, and Mary Nell Jones, El Centro, Calif.; two stepsons, Terry and Mike Lane, both of Watauga; stepdaughter, Jill Thompson, Piney Flats; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Wednesday from the Poplar Ridge Christian Church, Piney Flats, Mr. Roland Whittemore and Dr. Ross Dampier, ministers, will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mr. Jones’ grandsons, Jessee Lane, Andrew Lane, Hardy Lane, Franklin Lane, Brad Thompson, Travis Thompson and Russell Thompson. Nathan Lane will serve as honorary pallbearer. Committal services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from the U.S. National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the committal service. Naomi Hagy BRISTOL, Va. Naomi Hagy, 85, died on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was born in Piney Flats, Tenn., on July 20, 1924, and was a daughter of the late George and Lelia Smith Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of Mary Hughes High School and had worked for Bristol Virginia Utilities for several years. She loved doing genealogy work, was very active in church, and had a lifelong love for children. Namoi leaves behind her husband, Gayle R. Hagy; sons, Robin Hagy and wife Denise, of Anderson, S.C., and Timothy L. Hagy, of Washington, D.C.; grandson, Adam Hagy, of Fayetteville, Ga.; granddaughters, Natalie Irby and Meredith Long and husband Jamey, all of Anderson; sister, Ruth Dougherty of Kingsport, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. IMPERIAL, Calif. ? Mr. Jones was born June 16th, 1926, in Piney Flats, Tennessee.
In July of 1948, he married his childhood sweetheart Mary Hendrix. The two were virtually inseparable until her death in 2003. As a young boy he enrolled in Johnson Bible College with only a few dollars in his pocket and worked his way through school and would often remark that he was ever indebted to Johnson Bible College for his education. He had ministries in churches in East Tennessee, California, and held evangelistic meetings all over the United States. His love for Christ was followed by his love for his wife, family and the church.
Though he will be greatly missed, his faith and example will continue to inspire those who have come to know and love him. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Steve and Penny Fulton, of Roanoke, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Bonnie Jones, of Imperial, CA; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Sue Jones, of El Centro, CA; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Memorial services will be held in Southern California in early August. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to Johnson Bible College or Grundy Mountain Mission School.

He was a retired employee of Kingsport Press having 42 years of service at the time of his retirement in 1966. He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church, a member of the Buffalo Ruritan Club, and a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Allie Hickman Jones; three sisters, Mrs. Lester (Ruth) Daugherty, Kingsport, Mrs. Ed (Georgia Lee) Vance and Mrs. Gayle (Naomi) Hagey, both of Bristol; five brothers, Paul Jones, Asheville, N.C.; Ivan Jones, Kingsport; Lowell Jones, and Howard Jones, both of Piney Flats, and John W. Jones of El Centro, Calif.
