Mrs. Iris Moise Moore Long, 94, 2014 Sherwood Drive, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Long was a Johnson City native and a daughter of the late Alexander Moise and Minnie Dallas Erwin Moore.
She graduated from Science Hill High and attended business college in Johnson City. Mrs. long also attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
She had worked in the office at Range Motor Co.; Tennessee Eastman Co., Kingsport; Massengill's Specialty Shop; and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home. Mrs. Long was also president of Range Auto Parts.
She and her late husband, Raymond M. Long Sr., who died in 1967, were instrumental in starting North Johnson City Baptist Church and Southwestern Baptist Church, where she was an active member and leader in the Women's Missionary Union. Mrs. Long was a former member of Central Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday school for young, married couples and was involved in mission organizations.
She was active in women's mission work for the Holston Baptist Association and served as a volunteer in the association's office.
Mrs. Long served several times as a mission volunteer and as a volunteer missionary in Canton, Ohio, in 1976.
She was also preceded in death by one infant daughter; one sister, Mary Moore Johnston; and two brothers, Mack Erwin Moore and John Jackson Moore.
Survivors include one son, Raymond M. Long Jr., Johnson City; one daughter, Sarah Farmer, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Sharonne Lauren Long, Johnson City; three grandsons, Ryan Michael Long, Chattanooga, Daniel Raymond Farmer, Kissimmee, Fla., and Scott Cecil Farmer, Columbia, S.C., and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Iris Moise Moore Long, 94, Johnson City, who went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 18, 2001, will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, May 21, in Southwestern Baptist Church, 1112 Cherokee Road, Johnson City. The service will be led by Rev. John A. Jones, Southwestern Baptist Church, Daniel R. Farmer, her grandson of Kissimmee, Fla.., and Rev. James Cambron, Johnson City. Music will be provided by Ray Long Jr., her son, Ryan M. Long, her grandson, Carol Johnson and Gail Cambron, with Shelia Vaught, pianist. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. Those attending are invited to meet the family at the cemetery for this service. Pallbearers will be Jim Miller, Gene Crowder, Jay Allen, Glenn Davidson, Dwight Moore, John Moore, Hugh Gross, Bob Lacey, Benny Read, Jim Vaught and Wayne Livingston. The Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Southwestern Baptist Church prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Southwestern Baptist Church, Mission Trip Fund, 1112 Cherokee Road, Johnson City, TN 37604. She was a native of Johnson City and daughter of the late Alexander Moise and Minnie Dallas Erwin Moore. Mrs. King (sic.) had worked in the office at Range Motor Co.; Tennessee Eastman Co., Kingsport; Massengill's Specialty Shop, Johnson City; and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home. Following her husband's death in 1967, she was president of Range Auto parts. She and her husband, Raymond M. long Sr., were instrumental in starting two Southern Baptist churches in Johnson City -- North Johnson City Baptist Church and Southwestern Baptist Church where she was an active member and leader in the Women's Missionary Union. She had previously been a member of Central Baptist Church, where she taught a young married Sunday school class and was actively involved in the mission organizations. She was also active in the women's mission work for the Holston Baptist Association, Johnson City, and served as a volunteer in the association's office. Mrs. Long served several times as a mission volunteer, including the summer of 1975 where she and two other friends, Anna Kate Laws and Florence Lee, fondly known as the "three L's" were house parents for a team of college students at the Grand Canyon National Park. She also served as a volunteer missionary in Canton, Ohio, during the summer of 1976. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1942; her husband, Raymond M. Long Sr. in 1967; her sister, Mary Moore Johnson, in August 2000; and two brothers, Mack Erwin Moore, in 1991, and John Jackson Moore, in 1978. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond M. Jr. and Shonnie Long, Johnson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Dan Farmer, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Sharonne Lauren Long, Johnson City; three grandsons and their wives, Ryan and Carmen Long, Chattanooga, Danny and Marth (sic.) Kay Farmer, Kissimmee, Fla., and Scott and Jeanie Farmer, Columbia, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby (Mrs. Mock) Moore, Johnson City and Georgia (Mrs. Bill) Long, Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
