MARJORIE G. ROTTMAN Marjorie G. Rottman, 88, of Good Samaritan Home, Quincy, formerly of 2632 Manor Hill Drive, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 25, 2010) in the home. Marjorie was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Lincoln, NE, a daughter of John C. and Mabel J. Johnson Bockoven. She married Robert M. Rook in Lincoln in 1941. He died on July 16, 1944, in France, a casualty of World War II. Marjorie then married George L. Rottman in Quincy on Feb. 14, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1998. Marjorie grew up in West Lincoln, NE, in a family of ten children. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Lab High School. Marjorie moved to Quincy after her marriage to George in 1946 and became involved in many local activities. She was a life member of PTA and served as the PTA president at Dewey School. She was a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout den mother, and 4-H leader. Marjorie was a member of Luther Memorial Church where she served as a charter member and president of Daughters of Ruth and taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was also a member of PEO Chapter F. Marjorie was employed as a bookkeeper at Uptown Cleaners for six years. She also worked as a paraprofessional at Lincoln School from 1971 until 1983 and at Baldwin School from 1983 until her retirement in 1987. She also earned an associate*s degree from JWCC. Marjorie was well known for her sweet spirit and witty sense of humor. She had many friends among the staff and residents at Good Samaritan Home where she lived for the past five years. In her later years Marjorie discovered the joy of oil painting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Marjorie is survived by three children, Jacqueline J. Kaelke of Quincy, Randall G. Rottman and his wife, Martha, of Congers, NY, and John L. Rottman of Orland Park, IL; seven grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Kaelke and his wife, Ronda, of Quincy, Soren Rottman and his wife, Julie, of Yakima, WA, Joel Rottman and his wife, Amber, of Newington, CT, Elizabeth Rottman of Manhattan, NY, Noah Rottman of San Diego, CA, Sarah Rottman of Orland Park, IL, and Beth Rottman of Chicago, IL; four great grandchildren, Naomi, Kenan, and Ezra Rottman of Yakima, WA, and Ava Kaelke of Quincy; a sister, Catherine White of Lincoln, NE; a sister-in-law, Louise Ferrebee of Lincoln, NE; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son-in-law, Thomas Kaelke; five brothers, Frank, John, Leonard, Harold, and Norman Bockoven; and three sisters, Elizabeth Pavan, Lois Cutshall, and Lynoma Siegrist. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning (November 30, 2010) at 11:00 in Luther Memorial Church with the Rev. Gary Sproat conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:30 until the time of services at Luther Memorial Church. Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church and Good Samaritan Home.
