Orville Randel, age 91, of Baldwin City, passed away April 9, 2013. He was born January 18, 1922 in rural Baldwin City, the son of Charles Fredrick Randel and Ada Belle (Devault) Randel. He was a lifeling Baldwin City resident. He was an auto mechanic at Ford Garage in Baldwin as well as a mechanic at Producers in Olathe for many years. He also owned and operated the Laundromat in Baldwin for many years as well as owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Lawrence. For 20 years he was also an equipment manager and facilities aide on the Baker University football staff under Coach Charlie Richards, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Baldwin City Assembly of God Church and the Baldwin City American Legion. Orville served his country in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945, during World War II. He served as a tank mechanic. On November 28, 1950 Orville was united in marriage to Betty Collins at Nevada, Missouri. They shared over fifty-three years of loving marriage until Betty preceded him in death on October 14, 2004. He is also preceded in death by his parents; son, Roger Randel, Sr.; seven siblings, Katherine Pearson, Bert Randel, Charles Randel, Frances Rice, Gene Randel, Minne Trammell, Jack Randel; grandson Aaron Times; and great-grandson Kristofer Randel. Orville is survived by daughter, Judy Phillips and her husband, Dave, of Topeka, Greg Randel of Baldwin City, John Rockhold and his wife, Lori, of Lawrence; ten grandchildren, Allison Rockhold, Roger Randel, Jr., Jennifer Boehike, Tracy Bundy, Sarah Borrego, Terri Bundy, Teresa Bundy, Joshua Times, Amanda Randel, Kimberly Randel; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He resided in Raised in Baldwin City, Douglas Co., Kansas; lived in Ottawa, Ottawa Co., Oklahoma for several years before he moved to Ozark, Christian Co., Missouri (1998.)⁵ He was a worked for Wilson Counts as a farm laborer; did mechanical work for Adriance Implement Co. in Wellsville; worked at the Sunflower Ordnance Depot in DeSoto during World War II; owned and operated Randel Plumbing in Ottawa for several years.⁵ He was educated Attended Coal Creek Grade School.⁵ OBITUARY

BALDWIN CITY -- Calvin Henry "Jack" Randel, 78, formerly of Baldwin City, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at a Springfield, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Randel worked for Wilson Counts as a farm laborer and later did mechanical work for Adriance Implement Co. in Wellsville. He worked at the Sunflower Ordnance Depot in DeSoto during World War II and later owned and operated Randel Plumbing in Ottawa for several years.
He was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Baldwin City, the son of Charles Frederick and Ada Belle Davault Randel. He was reared in Baldwin City and attended Coal Creek Grade School. He lived in Ottawa for several years before he moved to Ozark, Mo., four years ago.
He married Ruby Burgoon on Dec. 11, 1978, in Miami, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include a sister, Minnie Trammell, Olathe; a brother, Orville Randel, Baldwin City; a stepdaughter, Connie Briley, Shell Knob, Mo.; two stepsons, Boyd Albers, New Market, Ala., and Bob Albers, Globe, Ariz.; five stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Baldwin City. Burial will be in Vinland Cemetery. Mr. Randel will lie in state after 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
