Mildred May McFall Stephenson, a longtime resident of Pullman, died peacefully in Port Orchard, Wash., on March 3.
She was born July 22, 1909, to John Wesley and Iva Payne McFall, in Paoli, Ind. Graduating in music from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., she taught school music.
On September 7, 1933, she married S. Town "Steve" Stephenson and they moved to Pullman on their honeymoon. Mildred lived in Pullman until 1997. Her husband, who was academic vice president of Washington State University, died in 1964.
Mildred was organist at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman for 44 years. She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church and active in United Methodist Women. She also was active in PEO-Chapter S, Kappa Kappa Gamma, American Guild of Organists, and Mu Phi Epsilon.
Mildred's family includes four children, David (Janet) Stephenson of Poulsbo, Wash., Robert (Margaret) Stephenson of Williamston, Mich., and Mary (Steve) Tarr of Pullman, Wash. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. April 30 at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman.
