Dr. Francis Wiley will be the speaker at the session of the first section, St. Michael's auxiliary, today following a 1 p.m. luncheon in the parish house. His topic will be "Peace Plans" and he will discuss the San Francisco conference and other meetings on peace.

Dr. Wiley Returns To Post at College
The return of Dr. Francis A. Wiley to the position as head of the history department of Boise Junior college still leaves six vacancies on the Junior college faculty, Dr. Eugene B. Chaffee, college president, said Wednesday.
Dr. Wiley has been on a year's leave of absence in Washington where he was associate director of a World War II history writing project. He and his wife are expected to return to Boise about the middle of August.

Francis A. Wiley died in Walnut Creek, CA.
A native of Virginia, he earned his B.A. degree in History from Emery and Henry College, followed by a M.A. degree from Duke University and Doctorate from University of California at Berkeley.
He was an educator for more than 30 years, holding positions as professor of history at University of Arkansas, New York State University, Rutgers University and California State University, Fresno, where he was director of the graduate division, School of Social Sciences.
A true Southern gentleman, Dr. Wiley was a committed environmentalist, musician and church layman.
He was a resident of Rossmoor since 1978, where he was active in the Kiwanis Club, Community Club, and Tice Valley Methodist Church and served as director, Third Walnut Creek Mutual.
He is survived by Elizabeth R. Wiley, his beloved wife of 70 years; niece, Lynn Burns of San Francisco; and sister-in-law, Frances T. Wiley of Marysville, TN.
Interment was at Oakmont Cemetery in Lafayette, CA.

Civilian Workers To Receive Awards
Twenty-eight civilian employees who have been in service for six months or more at Boise Barracks will be presented with civilian service awards - blue ribbons with a blue star surmounted on a silver shield--in ceremonies there at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 8, Col. Edward J. Geesen, base commander, announced Thursday.
Soldiers will parade in honor of the twenty-eight, after which a buffet lunch will be served in the Officers club at the barracks with dancing there the remainder of the evening, the colonel said.

Elizabeth Rush Wiley passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was born in Abingdon, VA, the daughter of Connally and Mattie Rush. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory & Henry College, did graduate work at Stanford University, and devoted 35 years to the teaching of Latin and French. A resident of Rossmoor, CA for 35 years, she was active in PEO, Diablo Symphony Guild, Pink Ladies, Kiwanis and Tice Valley Methodist Church. Elizabeth was a gracious Southern lady of wit and culture whose generous spirit touched all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Francis A. Wiley. Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Mildred R. Mason of Martinsburg, WV; nieces, Martha Mason Semmes of Purcellville, VA, and Lynn Abendroth of San Francisco, CA; two nephews, David H. Mason of Atlanta, GA, and John B. Mason of Seattle, WA. A Private Service was held.
