BASIC FACTS
John Henry May, Jr., was born on 15 August 1910 in Oklahoma.1,5 He died in January 1984, at age 73, in Fritch, Hutchison Co., Texas.5 John Henry May, Jr., had reference number 52940. He was an Assistant manager - school athletic association (1930); farmer (1940.)3,4 He was educated Attended the University of Oklahoma.6 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE
JOHN MAY, who lives south of Hydro, attended the University of Oklahoma were he was outstanding as an athlete, as a student and as an activity sponsor. Just as he finished his educational subjects he became afflicted. A lung was removed. He hovered near death for over a year.
His family and friends constructed a small house for him on the farm. With a will to live and with good care from those dear to him, he is now a strong man operating a farm that is a credit to any man. He also has a large modern home with all the latest improvements.
Besides doing himself proud as one who came through, he has retained a pleasing smile, a generous heart and a kindly disposition that makes friends for him wherever he may be.
When we see a fellow come through in such a splendid manner we wonder why some of us old duffers with more health than brains can be such grouches and loafers.
