Grace was born November 22, 1918 at home on the family ranch outside of Enterprise, Oregon, the daughter of Clyde and Alberta (Graham) Morrow. At a young age, she moved with her family to the Idaho side of Hells Canyon where her parents homesteaded. The year 1936 was a big year for Grace. She graduated from Lewiston High School, was named as Grangeville, Idaho Border Days Queen and married Clayton Butcher at Riggins, Idaho.
The young couple and their three sons, Clinton, Darrell, and Dick, made their home in Cottonwood, Idaho and later moved to Parma. Grace and Clayton were divorced in 1961. In 1963, Grace moved to Ontario and married Oren W. Hollandsworth. Grace will be remembered as an eternal optimist. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her many friends, although her hair appointments and her Mary Kay lipstick were a close second. She always had time for a visit, a story and lunch, even if it involved a 2 hour drive.
At age of 92, Grace attended her 75th Anniversary as Border Days Queen in Grangeville, Idaho all decked out in her jeans and original boots. Grace will be remembered as a grandmother, a friend and a woman who truly embraced relationships and experiences. There will forever be an empty seat at the Plaza Inn restaurant, where Grace often ate lunch, and an empty place in the hearts of those that loved her.
Grace is survived by her son, Dick Butcher of Los Angeles, CA; her three grandchildren, Melissa (David) Baker of Kennewick, WA, Anna Grace Butcher and fiance, David Augusto both of Boise, and Ben Butcher, of Boise; two great-granddaughters, Amelia and Chelsie Baker; stepsons, Jim Hollandsworth of Payette, Lyle Hollandsworth of Ontario, and Gene (Joann) Hollandsworth of Tacoma, WA; stepgrandchildren, Adam, Mark, Jodie, LeAnn and Clay; brother-in-law, Lew (Polly) Hollandsworth of Cottonwood, ID; sister-in-law, Regina Hollandsworth of Cottonwood, ID; daughter-in-law, Mardi Skinner of Boise; and a very special and devoted friend, Vicky Cox, of Fruitland, who was like a daughter to Grace.
She is preceded in death by both her husbands, two of her sons, her sister, and her brother.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Meadowbrook Assisted Living in Ontario, Legacy Hospice, and Gary and Debby Trick of Lienkaemper Chapel in Ontario.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, 502 N. 11th Street, Payette, Idaho 83661.
