Wife Wins Divorce From S. F. Attorney
Mrs. Vere D. MacMillan yesterday in Reno secured a divorce from her husband, Clifford J. MacMillan, San Francisco attorney, living at 815 Carmel avenue, Berkley, according to an Associated Press dispatch from the Nevada City. Desertion was given as grounds for the action. The complaint stated that the couple was married in Pasadena on June 22, 1920, and that there are no children. A property settlement was made out of court. MacMillan was appointed State Corporation Commissioner in September, 1928 by ex-Governor Richardson, succeeding Edwin M. Daugherty, who had resigned.

Note: It appears that Vere got the house at 815 Carmel Avenue, Albany, Alameda County, California in the divorce. She was living there with her mother in 1930 and with her mother and her second husband, Harold C. McCleary in 1940. Vere married Leslie W. Wilson in 1949.
