Miss Ilene Wesner of Bedford is Bride of William A. Gatlin
The first Christian church of Bedford was the scene of the wedding of Miss Ilene Wesner, daughter of Harry Wesner of Bedford, and William A. Gatlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gatlin, 620 South McCann street, Kokomo, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
The Rev. George McLam read the double ring ceremony at the altar which was graced with beauty baskets of white snapdragons and seven-branch candelabra, with a background of palms.
Miss Delores Denbo, orgainst, played "Clair de Lune," "Indian Love Call" and "O Promise Me" and Eugene Bayless sang "At Dawning, " "I Love You Truly" and "Because" as a prelude to the rites.
Mrs. Joe Kinkead of Bedford attended the bride as honor attendant and Ted Grayson of Kokomo was best man for the bridegroom. James Irick Kokomo and Mr. Kinkead ushered.
The bride wore a white crepe suit, white lace hat and corresponding accessories. She carried white carnations atop a white Bible, with matching ribbon streamers.
Mrs. Kinkead's pink summer gabardine suit was worn with poudre blue accessories and a pink rose corsage.
The wedding guests were received at an informal reception in the the Skylight room of the church. The lace-covered bridal table was centered by a three-tiered cake, topped with a bride and bridegroom and flanked by three-branch candelabra and bouquets of pink gladioli.
Mrs. James Irick of Kokomo, sister of the bridegroom, Mrs. Marion Adams, Miss Twila Faubion and Mrs. Kinkead assisted in serving.
When the couple left for a trip to Florida, the brided added a bright red topper to her wedding ensemble.
The bride was graduated from Bedford High school attended Indiana university and is employed by General Motors Acceptance corporation, Indianapolis.
Mr. Gatlin was a member of the Kokomo High school class of 1943, served in the European theater during World War II and was graduated from Indiana university in 1950. He is employed by the Bankers Casual Life Insurance company, Indianapolis. The couple will reside in Indianapolis.
Among the out-of-town guests were Albert Gatlin, Mrs. Vivian Houser, Mr. and Mrs Pete Grayson and Stevie Joe Irick, Kokomo; Sharon Sue and Jerry Gatlin, Tipton; Miss Rosanna Shoe, Sheridan and Roland Kreps, Indianapolis.
