Linn R. Rice
Linn R. Rice, 21, of near Wingate, was killed late Thursday when the motorcycle he was driving smashed against the rear of a farm wagon being towed by a tractor on a Fountain County road 2 miles west of Wingate.
Rice was a student at Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis.
Funeral services for Rice will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Crumley and Williams funeral home at Hillsboro. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Merry Rice, and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Rice.

Lloyd Lee Rice, age 77, of Rural Veedersburg (Wingate), died unexpectedly in his home Friday evening, February 3, 2017. He was born June 2, 1939 to the late Reed and Vivian Gilky Rice. He married Mae Shull, April 26, 1974 in Crawfordsville and she survives.
'Lee' was born and raised in Richland Township in Fountain County and a 1957 graduate of Richland Township High School. He served in the Indiana National Guard. Lee was semi retired after farming and raising cattle for 68 years. He had worked several years at R.R. Donnelley as a ‘pressman’. He was also a sales representative for Garst Hybrid Seeds for over 40 years. He enjoyed raising cattle and was a supporter of the 4-H program.
Lee was active in Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #385, Moose Lodge #6, American Legion Post 72 and Eagles all of Crawfordsville.
Surviving along with his wife Mae, are, daughters: LeeAnna (Bill) Tucker of Woodstock, GA, Julie (Frank) Pratt of Valley View, TX , Linda (Bill) Jones of Valley View TX and Cheryl (Mitch) McIntire of LaBelle, FL. Sons: Mike (Leanna) Rice of Wingate, Marcus (Debra) Dulin of Poquoson, VA and Jeff (Ella) Dulin of Cloverdale, IN. A sister Lois (Gale) Ingalsbe of Veedersburg, two brothers: Charlie Bob (Pat) Rice of Wingate and Byron (Shirley) Rice of Lafayette. Twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Barbara Austin also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lynn and a grandson Hyton Jones.
Visiting hours are 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February, 7, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate and one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 with paster Craig Carrell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery - Grant Street, Crawfordsville. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mellott Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.

Robert S. Grenard, 89, of West Lafayette, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital, after being admitted March 23 due to a massive stroke.
Born March 11, 1921, near Waynetown, he was the son of Arnet and Virgie Wood Grenard.
He graduated from Waynetown High School and enlisted in the Army Air Corps on May 10, 1941, serving during World War II in Australia and New Guinea. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 5, 1945. He received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from Purdue University in June 1951.
In August 1948, he married Helen Gilkey in the home of his parents, and she survives.
Mr. Grenard worked for the Horticulture Department at Purdue University from January 1954 until March 1986. After retirement he volunteered for Food Finders Food Bank for many years, and he volunteered for the Wabash Township Volunteer Fire Department until he was 70.
In 1962 he moved his family home to its location on 325 West; he started and operated a pick-your-own strawberry patch on the property for over 20 years.
He was also an active member of the Federated Church of West Lafayette.
He enjoyed remodeling, landscaping, woodworking, blacksmithing, gardening and being a apiarist. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially to Elderhostel programs in the U.S. and overseas.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Elaine G. Lucas (husband Don) of Lafayette, and a brother, Richard Grenard of Crawfordsville.
Slso surviving are 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Clemons of Indianapolis, Robert Brza of Lafayette and Rachael Smith of Monticello; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ella Clemons of Indianapolis, Stephanie and Malachi Smith of Monticello. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Grenard in 1984 and 1 brother, Donald Grenard.
Memorial Service 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Federated Church, 2400 Sycamore Lane, West Lafayette. Simplicity Funeral Care entrusted with care. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grenard of 1407 N. County Road 325 W., WL, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 22 at the Federated Church.
Mr. Grenard, a retired Purdue University horticulturist and the former Helen G. Gilkey, and employee of Lafayette National Bank, were married Aug. 22, 1948, in the Grenard family home in Waynetown.
The couple has one child, Elaine G. Brza of West Lafayette. They also have three grandchildren. A son, Alan M. Grenard, is deceased.

Alan M. Grenard, 35, a teacher at Oak Hill High School in Converse, died at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday in his home at 3753 Tularosa Drive.
Born in Lafayette, he was a lifelong resident of this area and a 1967 graduate of Klondike High School. He received a bachelor degree in 1971 from Purdue University and his master's from there in 1972. He taught social studies and industrial arts at Oak Hill High School.
He was married in West Lafayette in 1975 to Pamela Lindstrom, who survives.
Mr. Grenard was a member of West Lafayette Federated Church where he was financial secretary.
Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Elizabeth Ann, at home; his parents, Robert S. and Helen Gilkey Grenard of West Lafayette; and one sister, Mrs. John (Elaine) Brza of Bloomington.

WINGATE -- Guy W. Eggers, 82, of Wingate, died Wednesday night at Lakeview Hospital, Danville, Ill.
He was born at Groveland and was a mechanic and spent most of his adult life in the Wingate and Crawfordsville communities.
Mr. Eggers was married to Merle Schull in 1946 and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church at Browns Valley.
Surviving with the widow are two sons, Raymond E. of Bremerton, Wash., and Guy Jr. of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Collman of Cleveland, Ohio, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Barbara Austin and Mrs. Mae Dulin, both of Crawfordsville.

Mae (Shull) Rice, age 81, a longtime rural Wingate resident, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Myers, FL. She was born in Crawfordsville, IN on September 3, 1939, daughter of the late Mina Merle Shull. She was married to Lloyd Lee Rice on April 26, 1974 in Crawfordsville and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2017. She was formerly married to Richard Dulin, who survives.
Mae had attended Coal Creek schools and retired after 30 plus years with R. R. Donnelley & Sons. She also assisted Lee on the farm. Mae joined the Women of the Moose in 1975 and was a 46-year active member of the Crawfordsville Moose Lodge, serving in all officer's positions, rising to Senior Regent. She was very proud of her work with the Moose and sponsored 43 members into the Lodge. She was a lifetime member and chaired many events. She achieved; College 2008, Past Regent 2007, Senior Regent 2006, and Academy Friends 2005. Mae moved from the farm near Wingate and moved to Florida in 2017 to be near her daughter.
Mae was proud of her children and encouraged them to work hard, be independent and stand on their own. She enjoyed bird watching, going out to eat and Bingo.
Surviving are seven children; one sister; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece. Mae was preceded in death by her mother; husband; and grandson, Hyton Jones.
Visitation hours are from 4:00–7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Family and Friends Funeral Home in Wingate with funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 with Pastor Craig Carrell officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill-Grant Street Cemetery in Crawfordsville.
