Elderly Man Hangs Self
An elderly man long associated with one of the oldest feed mills in this section of Maryland took his own life by hanging. Dr. B. O. Thomas Sr., Frederick County Medical Examiner, ruled last night.
[The following text was scrambled in printing. What follows in my attempt at unscrambling it.]
The body of Charles Theodore Bair, 79, of New Windsor, Route 2, was found about 5 p.m. in the mill, located on the farm of Carville Lee Alexander along the Sam's Creek Road. The location is just west of the Carroll County Line, west of the New Windsor area.
The tragic discovery was made by Alexander, the dead man's employer for many years. Residents of the locality said Bair had lived and worked in that vicinity for nearly a half-century. Motive unknown
State Police were notified about 6 p.m.
State Police said he had taken certain steps Tuesday to put his personal affairs in order prior to taking his life. The investigation was by Trooper R. E. Alderson assisted by trooper Jackie Forsythe.
Reason for the act was not immediately known.
Born in Frederick County, the dead man was a son of the late George E. and Annie Riggle Bair. His wife, Grace Franklin Bair, preceded him in death in 1946.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Daisy Condon of Mt. Airy, and several nieces and nephews.
The body is at the New Windsor Funeral Home of D. D. Hartzler & Sons where services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Charles Muradian, pastor of the Taylorsville and Winfield Methodist churches, will officiate.
Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Winfield.
Friends may cal at the funeral home Friday evening.

Survivors include a daughter, Evonne Brilhart, Hanover, Pa.; a son, Wayne Jenkins of here; stepdaughter Joyce Jordan of North Carolina; and three grandchildren. Catherine Adalene Schaeffer, Taneytown, died Sunday at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Mrs. Schaeffer was a member of the Taneytown American Legion Auxillary. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Deloris M. Fogle, Reisterstown and a brother, Burnell Jenkins, Manchester. The daughter of the late Ramond and Leli Jenkins, she is also survived by two grandchildren. The service will be held at the Thomas D. Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of service. Burial will take place in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Winfield.

Maryland Deaths
Emory I. Schaeffer, 47, a weaver at the William J. Dickey woolen mill, Oella, died unexpectedly Monday at 8:30 p.m. at his home, Walnut Avenue, Sykesville. Carroll County Medical Examiner Dr. W. G. Speicher attributed death to a heart attack. Mr. Schaeffer was a veteran of World War II. He was the son of Mrs. Mae Schaeffer, Oakland Mills, and the late George Schaeffer. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Edith Klingelhofer Schaeffer; a daughter, Mrs. Dolores Fogle, Randallstown; Mrs. Bertha Lear, Baltimore; Mrs. Georgia Phillips, Sykesville; Mrs. Catherine Garver, Finksburg; Allen Schaeffer, Ellicot City and Brice Schaeffer, Brooklandville, and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the Haight funeral home, Sykesville, tomorrow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Thomas Stewart pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Sykesville, officiation. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Randallstown.
Note: Bertha Lear, Georgia Phillips, Catherine Garver, Allen Schaeffer and Brice Schaeffer are siblings of Emory I. Schaeffer. The grave marker for Emory and Edith is at the Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, Carroll Co., Maryland.
