Last Saturday Mrs. Sarah S. Campbell of this village, received the sad intelligence of the death of her only brother, Rev. David H. Lamson, which occurred at Hillsdale, Mich., on the 13th inst. The deceased was favorably known in and around Bayard where he preached as an Advent missionery in 1893. His life was characterized by purity of heart and integrity of mind and he will be greatly missed in the ministerial field. He was buried at Hillsdale. Rev. Uriah Smith, his life long friend, preaching his funeral sermon. Mrs. Campbell has the sympathy of the entire community in her bereavement.

Leota Mae Hillman Long, 76, Devon, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital Tuesday afternoon. She was born July 29, 1909, at Fort Scott the daughter of Charles Thomas and Lucy Taylor McReynolds. She married Everett O. Hillman Aug. 24, 1924, at Fort Scott. He died Sept. 26, 1958. She married Clinton Long in 1960 at De Soto, Kan. He died in 1963. She had worked for Aaron's Produce in Fort Scott. She was a member of the Mapleton RLDS Church and the Order of Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge at De Soto.
Survivors include a son, John T. Hillman, Leavenworth; four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Eileen) Thurston, Liberty, Mo., Mrs. Andrew (Lucille) Beckford, Mapleton, Mrs. Floyd (Doris) Camp, Easton, Kan., and Mrs. Howard (Wilma) Cash, Devon; a half-sister, Louise Womelsdorf, Iola; 24 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Elders Dale Crown and Joe Rei will conduct services at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mapleton RLDS Church.
Burial will be in Mapleton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Earl's Memorial Home.
Memorials may be made to the Mapleton RLDS Church.

John T. Hillman, 61, Leavenworth, died Sunday morning at St. John Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mapleton RLDS Church. Burial will be in the Mapleton Cemetery.
He was born June 4, 1925, in Hepler, the son of Everett O. and Leota Mae McReynolds Hillman.
He married Ruth (Mary) Robison on July 1, 1978 in DeSoto; she survives him at the home. He was an officer for Kansas Correctional Institution at Lansing and he had been an auctioneer for more than 30 years. He had worked at Hercules Ammunition Plant in DeSoto.
He served in th Army during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at DeSoto, the Olathe Scottish Rite bodies, and Mirza Shrine Temple at Pittsburg. He also was a member of the Mapleton RLDS Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Gail) Kipp, Spring Hill, two stepdaughters, Pamela Robison, Bronson, and Mrs. James (Carla) Mitchell, Wilson, N.C., four sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Eileen) Thurston, Liberty, Mo., Mrs. Andrew (Lucille) Beckford, Mapleton, Mrs. Floyd (Doris) Camp, Easton, and Mrs. Howard (Wilma) Cash, Devon; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Earl's Memorial Home, Fort Scott. They suggest memorial contributions to the Mapleton RLDS Church.

She was survived by her husband, Kenneth and daughter, Mildred Page, both of Abbyville, Kan.; two sons, John Thurston of Liberty, Mo., and Kenneth L. Thurston of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Lucille Beckford of Lansing, Kan., and Doris Camp oof Easton, Kan.; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Howard Thurston and Donald Thurston, a brother, John Hillman and a sister, Wilma Cash.

Lucille Colene Beckford, 72, Lansing, and formerly of Mapleton, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at the St. John Hospital in Leavenworth. She was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Bronson, the daughter of Everett O. and Leota M. McReynolds Hillman. She married Andrew Beckford, Jr. May 16, 1943, in Mapleton. He preceded her in death May 24, 1985.
She graduated from Blue Mound High School, followed her husband in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 until 1963, lived in Mapleton from 1963 until 1994, and lived in Lansing from 1994 until her death. She was a member of the Reformed Latter Day Saints Church of Mapleton and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew J. Beckford of Paola; one daughter, Leota A. Keller of Lansing; one sister, Doris Camp of Easton; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Alan Leon Beckford, Everett Laverne Beckford, and David Wayne Beckford; one brother, John Hillman, and two sisters, Eileen Thurston and Wilma Cash.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the RLDS Church in Mapleton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Konantz-Cheny Funeral Home.
