Several of them were, in fact, Peter August Nelsons. Searching Ancestry.com for records for our Peter August Nelson returns records for many other Peter Nelsons. Here is what we know. Our Peter August Nelson was born in Sweden about 1875. In the 1910 Census he is listed as August Nelson. He is living with wife Ethel, daughter Ethel, his wife's sister, Daisy Burke and Daisy's daughter, Irene Burke. In the 1920 Census he is shown as widowed and living with his daughter, Ethel D. Nelson. In both of these census records, our Peter August Nelson lists his occupation as a baker.
I have been able to eliminate a several of these Peter Nelsons. I mention them here because information for some of them shows up in Ancestry trees as belonging to our Peter August Nelson.
The first is a Peter August Nelson born 10 Feb 1875 He married Anna Unknown before 1918 and installed elevators for a living. This Peter August Nelson died in early October 1949 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery.
The second is a Peter A. Nelson that married Ida Mathilda "Tillie" Holmquist in 1902.
The third is a Peter A. Nelson, born in 1874 in Sweden and had a daughter, Ethel (1905 - 1953) who married Victor Edward Karlsen.
The fourth is a Peter August Nelson born 22 Nov 1885 in Sweden. In 1918 he worked for Chicago Rapid Transit.
