Dorothy N. Shortridge, 70 of Brownsville, died Friday at Villa Cascade Care Center in Lebanon.
She was born in Eugene, the daughter of Earl S. and Erma (Wols) Burgess. She graduated from high school 1940 in Lorane.
She married Clifton Shortridge in 1941 in Cottage Grove. They moved to Brownsville in 1953 and operated the Brownsville Nursery and Flower Shop, which they sold in 1963.
Mrs. Shortridge is survived by her husband Clifton of Brownsville; sons Loren of Halsey and Barney of Sumner, Wash; brother Edward Burgess of Eugene; sisters Josephine Simonsen of Creswell and Marie Burgess of Los Angles; and grandchildren Robert and Marcia Shortridge and Loreen Durham.
Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon handled the arrangement. Her funeral was Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Tetamore officiating. Burial was Tuesday at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove.

O. Clifton Shortridge
A graveside service will be held today, July 10, for O. Clifton Shortridge of Bonney Lake, Wash., who died July 7 of age-related causes. The former Brownsville resident was 86.
Shortridge was born Oct. 28, 1909, in Cottage Grove to Silas and Maude Shortridge. He married Dorothy Burgess in Lorane on June 28, 1939. She died in January 1994.
He graduated from Lorane High School in 1927 and worked in the timber industry as a heavy equipment operator.
A Brownsville resident from 1950 until 1995, he enjoyed fixing grandfather clocks.
Survivors include two sons, Barney of Bonney Lake, and Loren of Halsey; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Today’s service will be at 2 p.m. at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove. Weeks’-Whitmore Funeral Home in Buckley, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.”
