PINEY FLATS -- Edgar Herman Crussell, 71, Route 1, Piney Flats, died at 7:20 a.m. Friday at Veterans Hospital in Johnson City following a long illness.
He was a retired carpenter, a native and life-long resident of Sullivan County. He was a member of the New Bethel Presbyterian Church, a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics No. 236 and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Stella Jones Crussell; daughters, Mrs. Luella Overbay of Kingsport, Mrs. Lena Mae Morgan of Rex, Ga. and Miss Martha Ann Crussell of Piney Flats; sons, Allan and Paul, both of Piney Flats, and Roy of Jonesboro; brothers, Dalton, Oscar, Aubrey, and Don, all of Piney Flats, Deward of Blountville, Howard of Reading, Ohio, and Charlie of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Mrs. Valarine of Piney Flats; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the new Bethel Presbyterian Church. Rev. W. T. King will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics No. 236. Flower bearers will be ladies of the church.
The body will remain at Akard Funeral Home today and will be moved to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bristol, and of the Retired Fireman’s Association of Los Angeles.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert R. Jones, in 1973.
