Born in Elkton, Md., Mr. Perkins was the son of the late Joseph H. and Mary Hartenstine Perkins and lived in Wallingford before moving to Aston 39 years ago. He was an inspector for the Congoleum Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1977.
Mr Perkins graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1933 and earned a B.A. at the University of Delaware in 1938 where he served as editor of the year book and was a sports reporter for the school paper. He also ran track.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Hunn Perkins; two daughters, Nancy Hinchliffe Perkins-Brown of Fairhill, Md., and Phoebe Ann Perkins of Aston; two sons, Daniel B. Perkins of Aston and John W. Perkins of Newark, Del.; three sisters, Leanore H. Perkins and Anne J. Perkins, both of Swarthmore, and Virginia P. Cressman of Rockdale; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, Aston.
