William Schooley, 86, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Windsor Place.
Mr. Schooley was born on October 22, 1924 in Miami, Oklahoma to Henry and Kathryn Schooley. He grew up in the Coffeyville area where he attended local schools. William served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years as a Signalman.
On January 26, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mae Rue Harrison in Coffeyville, Kansas where the couple made their home. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2000.
William worked for the Coffeyville Police Department as a detective for 22 years. He enjoyed wood working and fishing. He enjoyed his job as well as time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Garbo and husband, Joseph of Troy, Missouri; son, Richard Schooley of Coffeyville; grandsons, James and Shane and a great-grandson, Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Kathryn; his loving wife, Mae Rue and two sisters, Irene White and Mary Abbott.

She attended school in Miami, and graduated from Miami High School in 1946. She was a homemaker. Pat was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hutchinson.
Pat married Henry A. Betts on July 20, 1946, in Hood River, Ore. He died July 26, 1998. Survivors include: a son, Cliff Betts and his wife Lila of Hutchinson; a daughter, Mary Marlow and husband Gary of Vallejo, Calif.; a brother, Bill McClintic of Miami, Okla.; three granddaughters, Diann Kargi and husband Ertugrul of Hutchinson, Rebecca Mehlum and husband John, and Melissa Baxter and husband Robert, all Vallejo, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah Allen, J.R. Mehlum, and Curtis Mehlum. Pat was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Johnny, and Bob McClintic; and four sisters, Maxine Carroll, Shirley Weaver, Mary Waybright, and Ruth McClintic, as a baby.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary with Pastor Gary Salmans presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

She is survived by a son John Weaver of Auburn, CA.; a daughter, Cyndi Mathewson of Avingdon, MD.; two sisters, Pat Betts of Hutchinson, KS.; Mary Waybright of Commerce, OK.; a brother, Bill McClintic; and her grandchildren, Tabitha Slonsky, Lonnie Harris, Jarrad Weaver, and Ryan Mathewson.
A memorial service will be held Friday March 21, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Chaplain Frederick J. Obold presiding. Cremation has occurred, a private family burial will take place at a later date.
