U. P. ANDERSON DIES SUNDAY
U. P. Anderson, 70, well known citizen of Canton neighborhood, and former county highway superintendent, died at 9 o'clock Sunday night, following a major operation at St. Anthony where he was taken in the Dawalt & Etzler ambulance Saturday.
Funeral rites were conducted by Eld. Esten Martin at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning from Franklin church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Three daughters, Mrs. Harry Wesner, Bedford, Mrs. Charles Day, Salem, Miss Grace Anderson, Seymour, and a son Vaughn Anderson, Salem survive.

Anderson Rites Conducted Today
Funeral services for Ulysses P. Anderson, father of Miss Grace Anderson, Shields High School Latin instructor, were conducted at 10:30 o'clock this morning from the Canton Church in the Salem vicinity with burial in a nearby cemetery.
Mr. Anderson, a former school teacher who had been farming in the Salem vicinity for several years, died Sunday night at a hospital in Louisville where he had undergone an operation for appendicitis Saturday. He was a lifelong resident of Washington county.
Miss Anderson was called to her home Firday because of her father's serious illness.
Miss Mina McHenry represented the Shields High School faculty at the funeral services, and Miss Pauline Johnson, president of the Leaders' Club, represented the student body. They were taken to Canton by Mrs. Norman J. Lasher.
