Mrs. Madeline Keefauver Overbay, age 94, Gray, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at her residence.
She was a lifelong resident of the Boones Creek Community. She was a graduate of Boones Creek High School and a member of the Boones Creek Christian Church.
Mrs. Overbay was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Ruth Keefauver; and her husband, Donald Overbay Sr., who passed away in 1991; son, Anthony Overbay, who died at birth; and grandson, Tim Overbay.
Mrs. Overbay was a homemaker, a retired farmer and a caregiver for many of her family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Donnie Overbay, Leon Overbay and wife, Pam, and Lynn Overbay and wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Kevin, Keith and Tony; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Allison, Alexa, McKinley, Sydney and Jake; One sister, Evelyn McCall; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Serves for Mrs. Overbay will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 7:00 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister David Clark officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5- 7:00 PM prior to the service.
Graveside will be Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Highland Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Pvt. D. G. Overbay Wounded In France
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Overbay, Johnson City Highway have recently received word that their son, Pvt. Donald G. Overbay, was wounded in action in France, July 15.
Pvt. Overbay, who is now recuperating in a base hospital somewhere in England, has been awarded the Purple Heart.
He was employed at Tennessee Eastman before entering service in November, 1943. He received his basic traing at Camp Walters, Texas, and went overseas May 14.
His wife, the former Miss Madeline Keefauver, makes her home with her parents at Boone's Creek.

DONALD G. OVERBAY SR.
Donald G. Overbay Sr. 71, 212 Highland Church Road, Gray, died Saturday, July 27, 1991, at North Side hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was a Sullivan County native, but had lived in Washington County for over 50 years. Mr. Overbay was a son of the late Edward Lee and Lula Hite Overbay.
He was a member of Boones Creek Church of Christ.
Mr. Overbay was a World War II Army veteran, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the Normandy invasion.
He retired from Tennessee Eastman Co., Kingsport, after 44 years of service.
Mr. Overbay was a member of the Pine Oaks Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Madeline Keefauver Overbay; three sons, Donnie Overbay, of the home, Leon Overbay, Gray, and Lynn Overbay, Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Hubert Overbay, Kingsport; one sister, Beulah Goins, Kingsport; and four grandsons.

Funeral services for Donald G. Overbay Sr., 71, 212 Highland Church Rd., Gray, will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday from the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel. The officiating minister will be Charles Reece. Pallbearers will be Charles G. Dyer, Ernest Cox, Herman Cox, Gene Carrier, Carl Snipes, J. R. Vess, Jack Hobbs and Jim Saylor. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Men’s Class of Boones Creek Church of Christ and members of Pine Oaks Golf Club. Interment services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday. JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Leon Overbay, “Boones Creek Bard”, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at his residence.
He was a lifelong resident of the Boones Creek community, and was the son of the late Don and Madeline Keefauver Overbay.
Leon was a founding member of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild and co-host of the Jonesborough Yarn Exchange Radio Program.
Mr. Overbay began his career with Mason Dixon Trucking, was Vice President of Finance with Edwards and Associates, worked with Appalachian Christian Distributors, and retired from Powell Construction.
He served his country for six years in the United States Army Reserves.
He was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir, and taught the “Joy” Sunday School Class.
He was an avid golfer and runner.
Mr. Overbay is survived by his wife, Pamela Leonard Overbay of the home; sons Kevin Overbay of the home and Keith Overbay of Nashville; grandson Kyle Overbay; granddaughter Allison Overbay; brothers Lynn Overbay and wife Peggy and Donnie Overbay; and aunt Evelyn McCall.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016, 6:00 PM at Boones Creek Christian Church with Minister David Clark and Mr. Tony Overbay officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Boones Creek Christian Church, 2684 Boones Creek RD, Johnson City, TN 37615 or the Crumley House, 300 Urbana RD, Limestone, TN 37681.
