WINDSOR Dorothy L. (Diven) Koons, 82, died May 31, 2009, at her home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, with the Rev. Larry M. Estepp, pastor of St. Paul's 'Dubs' UCC Church officiating. There will be no viewing. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy was born February 14, 1927, in York, a daughter of the late Ellsworth R.J. Diven and Elsie M. (Mercer) Madanick.
She graduated from William Penn Senior High School, York, in the Class of 1945. She had been employed with Lutheran Social Services as a Site Director for the Susquehanna Senior Center and had worked as a cashier at Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Red Lion and as a CNA Nurse at Manor Care South. She was a member and past matron of the Rainbow Chapter #517 Order of the Eastern Star, Red Lion and was a member and past Patron of the Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court #106, Order of Amaranth Red Lion.
She leaves a daughter, Julia L. Warner of Windsor; three grandchildren; and a sister, Jenny L. Rogers of North Carolina. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Marie Koons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 44 Bowman Road, York, PA 17408.

YORK - Thelma M. Diven, 94, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at 12:30 a.m. at Autumn House West. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Workinger-Semmel F.H. and Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Greenmount Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Ruth D. Harvey. Miss Diven was born August 19, 1912, in York. She was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Jennie L. (Little) Diven. She was a retired employee of the Bureau of Employment Security, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps and the Women's Army Corps from April, 1943, to January, 1946. Miss Diven was one of six women from the Third Service Command selected to procure professional, social, and psychiatric workers, and medical and surgical technicians for the Women's Army Corps. While on this assignment, she was stationed at the Officer Procurement Office in Philadelphia. She was a member of the former Emanuel United Church of Christ, Women's Guild of Emanuel, and presently a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, American Legion York Post 127, AARP, and PARSE.
