WINDSOR: Donald L. "Red" Howard, Sr., 86, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at 7:14 a.m. at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred G. (Gulden) Howard, whom he married on December 24, 1949. They celebrated 61 years together. He was born in Windsor, on September 6, 1924, the son of the late Earl (Smith) Howard and Anna M. (Oberdorff) Howard. He graduated from Red Lion High School with the Class of 1943. He was a machine operator for Grinnell Annville Corp in Columbia, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of service and was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. Mr. Howard was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Red Lion, the Red Lion Athletic Club, the Red Lion Veterans of Foreign Wars Association Post #1446, the American Legion Post #543 in Red Lion, and the 12th Ward Athletic Club in York. Red, as he was known to everyone loved sports, he played for Red Lion High School and with the Baseball Twilight League when they won the championship. He enjoyed spending time at the shore in Ocean City and Cape Hatteras, was an avid fisherman and hunter. In addition to his beloved wife Mildred, he is survived by four sons, Donald L. Howard, Jr. and his wife, Lynn of Airville, Randy L. Howard of Dallas, Penn., and his companion, Susan Johnson, Courtland D. Howard and his wife, Lori Campbell-Howard of Red Lion, and Todd A. Howard and wife, Mary of Ocean Pines, Md.; one daughter, Lori A. Blymire and her husband, David of York; nine grandchildren, Aaron and Ashley Capp, Thomas Howard, Abby Howard, Alex (Erica) Howard, Katherine and Caroline Howard, Dakota Blymire, Nick and Nate Campbell; one great-granddaughter, Jordanna Capp; one brother, Darwin L. Howard of Red Lion and his wife, Edna; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Howard. Viewings will be Sunday, August 28, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will be ay 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. William H. Cluely officiating. Red's son, Pastor Courtland D. Howard, will assist. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Grace Lutheran Church "Steeple Organ Fund", 220 N. Charles St., Red Lion, PA 17356 . "Red loved all of his kids the same".

George William "Bill" Brinton, age 76, of Rehoboth Beach, DE and formerly of Hanover, PA, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008 at his residence with his wife by his side. He was born February 3, 1932 in Bluefield, WV son of the late William Brinton and Marian (Parks) Brinton Hartman.
Mr. Brinton served with the U.S. Navy as a sonar specialist during the Korean War aboard the USS Fletcher in the Asian and South Pacific theatres. He was employed as a truck driver and mechanic by various companies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He was a lifetime member of the McSherrystown Fish & Game Association in Pennsylvania. After relocating to Delaware 14 years ago, he joined the American Legion Post #28 and the VFW Post #7447.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mildred Crowley. Mr. Brinton is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary C. (Gulden) Brinton; two daughters Mary Ann Frantz and her husband Stephen, of Towson, MD and Diana M. Klunk and her husband Kenneth of Hanover, PA; two sons Joseph W. Brinton of Lewes, DE and John C. Brinton and his wife Laura, of Lewes, DE; eight grandchildren: Cory and Stephanie Frantz, Michelle Back, Brian Brinton, Shannon Strausbaugh, Ryan Klunk, Neal and Jacob Brinton; five great-grandchildren: Levi Back, Lexie and Mya Strausbaugh, and Bryce and Brogan Klunk.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 11 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriot's Way, Millsboro, DE. Pastor Larry Wanaselja will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice of the Delmarva Peninsula, 31038 Country Gardens Blvd., Dagsboro, DE 19939.

Dorothy W. Gulden, of Hanover, departed this life August 16, 2008, with her husband and family by her side.
She was the daughter of the late Harold S. and Ada (Newcome) Pope.
Dorothy was a past member of Emory Methodist Church in New Oxford until she married in 1942, when she joined St. Matthew Lutheran in Hanover where she served her Lord in numerous capacities. She was a member of the North Hanover Mall Pacesetters, the Conewago Valley New Oxford AARP, where she served as treasurer since 1992, the National AARP, the Hanover Area Arts Guild and a student of Steve Stroup. She was also a member of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society for Preservation of Covered Bridges, the New York Covered Bridge Society, and the Ohio Covered Bridge Society. She retired from the Hanover Hospital in 1988, where she worked for 23 years as an admission clerk.
She was the wife of Kenneth C. Gulden and surviving, in addition to him, are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Donald Laughman of Hanover; daughter and son-in-law, Dona K. and Donald Price of Cammal, PA; son and daughter-in-law, Bradford L. and Theresa Gulden, of New Oxford; son and daughter-in-law, Wes S. and Marcy Gulden of Colorado Springs, CO; 18 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Grant E. Pope of Milford, CT, Donald N. Pope of New Oxford, and Harold R. Pope of Felton; and a sister, Nancy Warner of Spring Grove.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Zillah (Pope) Smith and Lillian (Pope) Gulden; and a foster brother, Vernon Rutherford.

Wa.: three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth C. Gulden, Hanover: Mrs. Richard U. Smith, Hanover; Mrs. Glenn Warner, Spring Grove: three brothers, Grant E. Pope, Connecticut: Donald N. Pope, New Oxford; Harold R. Pope, Felton; six grandchildren and one foster son. Vernon E. Rutherford. Santa Maria. Cal. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, Abbottstown, with Rev Garnet Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the St John Church Cemetery Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 at the Feiser Funeral Home.
