Rosella V. Shultz, 78, of 508 Carlisle St., Hanover, died Monday, Oct. 4, at her home. Born July 2, 1915, in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Ralph E. Resh and Annie Mummert Resh. She was the wife of the late J. Louis Shultz. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she helped form the Altar Guild and was former chairperson. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, Lutheran Church Women, and a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the national AARP. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sue Bowser of Hanover; one daughter, Mrs. Sally Baumgardner of Lima, Ohio; one son, Jack Shultz II of Hanover; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Louise Caler of Hanover. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St, Hanover, with the Rev. Eric Wogen officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. Friends may call Thursday evening at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

J. Louis Shultz. 72. 508 Carlisle St. Hanover, died Thursday at the Hanover General Hospital. He was the husband of Rosella Resh Shultz.
Born in Hanover, he was the son of the late Harry B. and Fannie Hershey Shullz. Mr. Shultz was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, having served on church council as an usher, the building fund committee and various other church committees. He operated the Shultz Insurance Agency with his father starting in 1934. He was joined in business by his son, Jack, in 1974 who later became president. He remained active in the firm until his death. He joined the Hanover Lions Club in 1948 and had perfect attendance records since that time. He was president of Hanover Lions in 1957-58 & 1958-59. He served as zone chairman jsaid the next two years served as deputy district governor in district 14-C. During 1961-62, he was the district governor of district 14-C Pennsylvania Lions. One of his many accomplishments was to clear the mortgage at Beacon Lodge.
He was a key member of Lions International and was made a life member at the 50th anniversary of the Hanover Lions Club in 1982. He was also an active member of the past district governor's of district 14-C of Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. 763, the Hanover Moose, national and Local AARP, along with many other local civic and social organizations and committees. Surviving in addition to his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Sue Bowser, 559 Carlisle St.. Hanover and Mrs. Sally Baumgardner, 3302 Muirfield Place. Lima, Ohio; a son, Jack Shultz II, 229 Eichelberger St., Hanover; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 32 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Eric P. Wogan officiating. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, and Monday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

WOOSTER - Mary Louise CALER, 87, of Abbottstown, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in Horn Nursing Home.
She was born January 18, 1922 in Hanover, PA, daughter of Ralph and Annie Mae Mummert Resh.
She had worked at Hanover Shoes and retired as a clerk in a pharmacy. Member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, PA and was an avid roller skater. She moved to Wooster in January of 2008.
Surviving are sons, Steve (Carol) Caler of Wooster and Terry (Sally) Caler of Mechanicsville, VA; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sterling Caler, on June 3, 2008 to whom she had been married 68 years and a sister, Rosella Shulz.
Friends will be received at the at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover, PA 17331 on Monday, May 18, 2009 from 7-9:00 P.M. and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Services will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM with The Rev. Jack Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assiting the family with local arrangements.
