Reckless Driver Draws $25 Fine
Second Motorist Pleads Innocent
Floyd P. Kinart, 19, 3032 Avenue F, was fined $25 by Municipal Judge A. J. Neilsen Monday on a charge of reckless driving. He pleaded guilty.
Kinart and Frank D. Drake, 24, 1313 Avenue E, were arrested Saturday night near First Ave. and Pearl St. by State Highway Patrolman John Ebert.
Patrolman Ebert said both drivers appeared to be racing as they turned into Pearl St. from Broadway, with tires squealing.
Hearing Set For Tuesday
Drake pleaded innocent. His hearing is slated Tuesday in Municipal Court.

Six Iowa Men Are Indicated For Alleged Bookmaking
Omaha - Six men from the Council Bluffs, Iowa, area have been indicted by a federal grand jury for alleged bookmaking operations, Paul C. Young, special agent in charge of the Omaha FBI office said Tuesday.
Young said two indictments handed down by a grand jury for the southern district of Iowa, sitting in Des Moines, were the culmination of an investigation begun by a court authorized wiretap conducted by the FBI in January of this year.
Both indictments name David Leslie Merryman of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Five other men are named in one indictment.
One contains four counts of alleged bookmaking operations in violation of state and federal laws. This names Merryman, Floyd Kinart, Jack Marshall, Gary Price and Don Miles of Council Bluffs, and Leslie Merryman of Honey Creek, Iowa.
The other indictment charges David Merryman with 16 counts of wilfully attempting to evade and defeat the payment of wagering excise taxes from September, 1969, through December, 1970.
Young said this indictment, based on evidence developed primariy by special agents of the Internal Revenue Service, alleges that Merryman reported he accepted wagers over the 16-month period totaling $12,844.40 on which excise taxes were $1,284.40, but that he in fact accepted wagers in excess of $307,000 and owed more than $30,700 in excise taxes on these wagers.
David Merry was arrested last january and has been free on $2,500 bond since that time.

Kraig D. Kolhof, age 53, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away October 29, 2009, at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family following a 18 month battle with lung cancer. Kraig was born June 30, 1956, in Council Bluffs, to the late Douglas Kolhof (2002) and Beverly (Ronk) Blanchard (2008). He was a route delivery driver for Farner-Bocken for 15 years. Kraig enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, his Harley-Davidson, funny car drag racing and especially his "Miller Time". Kraig married Linda Kinart Gwennap on September 28, 1996, in Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kirk Kolhof in 2005; and faithful companion, "Bailey". Kraig will be greatly missed by his wife of 13 years, Linda L. Kolhof, of Council Bluffs; sons, Jarrod Kolhof and wife, Rebecca, of Lemars, Iowa, Jacob Kolhof, Sr. and wife, Jessica, Matthew Kolhof and wife, Sarah, Kenneth Gwennap and wife, Melissa; daughters, Jennifer Cash and husband, Tim, all of Council Bluffs; Christie Kolhof, of Eureka, Calif.; son, Brian Kolhof and wife, Melissa, of Branson, Mo.; twin daughters, Janis (Jennifer) Kolhof and Julie Froid and husband, Matthew, all of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Kerry Kolhof and wife, Mireille, of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Jodi Schnuelle, of Blair, Neb., Kim Larson and husband, Jerry, of Omaha, Kirsten Volzkes and husband, Jeff, of Seward, Neb.; dad, Bill Blanchard, of Council Bluffs; 12 grandchildren; and 13th grandchild due in December; sister-in-law, Kim Kolhof, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law; many cousins, nieces and nephew.
