BASIC FACTS

Mathilda or Matilda Hazel Bigley was born on 21 March 1920 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.1,2,3 She and Jesse John "Jess" Tubbs were married on 9 August 1942 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.4 She died on 14 November 2008, at age 88, in Bettendorf, Scott Co., Iowa.2,3 She was buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois.3
Mathilda or Matilda Hazel Bigley had reference number 24470. She was a Factory worker - Howard Plastics (1958); worked as a nurse's aide at area nursing homes, including Good Samaritan Home in Davenport, Iowa.5,6 She was enumerated on the census in Pottawattamie County, Iowa (1930.) It appears that Mathilida changed the spelling of her name to "Matilda."

Based on the obituary of her daughter, Judith Ann "Judy" (Painter) Kinart-Flint, it appears that Matilda was married twice. The first time to Phillip Painter. It is pretty clear that Phillip Painter is the biological father of Matilda's first two children, Phillip and Judy. The biological father of Richard Lee Tubbs is still in question. Based on the marriage date given in Matilda's obituary, all three children would be Phillip Painter's biological children. At present I have listed Phillip and Judy as adopted by Jesse Tubbs because they would have been very young when Matilda married Jesse.
