Christine Cross - PINEY FLATS
PINEY FLATS Christine Julia Cross, 84, of Piney Flats, passed away on July 4, 2006. She was the daughter of Dayton Bruce Pierce and Millie Green Pierce.
Mrs. Cross was a graduate of Hampton High School, where she was the class valedictorian. She was also a graduate of Steed College Business School. She worked for many years at Interstate Foundry and retired from WJHL-TV. She was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church, where she served as the treasurer for thirty-years. She was also past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bob Pierce and Joe Pierce.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald Cross, of Piney Flats; daughter, Linda Johnson and her husband, Teddy, of Piney Flats; son, Stanley Cross and his wife, Patricia, of Piney Flats; two sisters: Adele Smith and her husband, Glenn, of Johnson City, and Maxine Bentley, also of Johnson City; grandchildren: Robyn Ivester and her husband, Stacy, of Piney Flats, Brandon Cross and his wife, Anne, of Piney Flats, Amber Cross, of Johnson City; great-grandchildren: Kendall Ivester, Clayton Ivester and future grandson, Braxton Cross. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006, at 8:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Mr. Roland Whittemore, minister, officiating with Mr. Brad Perry and Mr. Gerry Rhodes assisting. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Poplar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Carter, Johnny Miller, David Tipton, Tony Stout, Darius Hensley, Randall Gilmore, John King and Jerry Dempsey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Poplar Ridge Christian Church Building Fund, 206 Poplar Ridge Church Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
