Here is the circumstantial evidence that this Gladys Mary Beck, wife of Alfred Newton Beck, is the Gladys Beck, sister of Clifford James MacMillan (as shown on his funeral home record). To begin with, she has the correct name and was born in Illinois at about the correct date In addition, this Gladys lived in Los Angeles County, California, the same local as her mother, Mary Ellen "Ella" (Robertson) McMillen-Sweet, and she was buried in the same cemetery as both her parents. In the census records both Gladys and her sister say that their mother was born in Tennessee. Ella was actually born in Illinois but Ella's parents had come from Tennessee shortly before she was born. In the same census records Gladys correctly says her father was born in Illinois.
This is going to take a little more explaining. About 1912, Gladys Mary MacMillan married John Francis Kelly, Jr. In 1914 they had daughter, Geraldine A. Kelly. All three are shown in the 1920 Census. We're pretty sure that this is our Gladys because the California Death Records for daughter, Geraldine A. (Kelly) Struever, shows that Geraldine's mother's maiden name was "MacMillan." In the 1930 Census, Gladys Mary (MacMillan) Kelly is now married to Fred W. Trick. We know that this is our Gladys because, Gladys' daughter, Geraldine A. Kelly is living with them. Apparently sometime after 1954, Gladys married Alfred Newton Beck. I am pretty sure that Geraldine A. (Kelly) Struever, is the daughter of Gladys Mary Beck because they are both buried in the same section (Sanctuary of Vesper Bells) in Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Glendale).

James Alexander Fulton, 78, and his wife, Florence Josephine Fulton, 78, both of Springfield, Mo., departed this life Friday, May 12, 2006, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident at Pineville, Mo. Josephine was born November 6, 1927, at Noel, Mo., to James Marshall and Elizabeth Ellen (Childress) Bennett. She worked for a number of years as a secretary at WCA Waste Corp. of Missouri, formerly of Sunrise Disposal. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Springfield, Mo. James Alexander Fulton was born January 26, 1928, at Dawson, Okla., to Frederick Ralph and Eleanor Blount (Lindsay) Fulton. He worked as an Engineering Technician for City Utilities of Springfield for 15 years before retiring. They both enjoyed the outdoors and nature. James enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and creating devices to keep the squirrels out of the feeder. Josephine volunteered in many ways at the church and especially enjoyed sewing with her church ladies group, the Sew-n-Sews. They both loved their grandchildren. Grandpa teased them while Grandma doted on them. Survivors include their children, Brent Fulton and his wife, Donna, and their children, James and Sarah Fulton, all of Shawnee, Kan., and Judy Dill and her husband, Jeff, and their children, Adam and Lindsay Dill, all of Buffalo, Mo. Funeral services for James Alexander and Florence Josephine Fulton will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in First United Methodist Church, formerly Grace United Methodist Church, 600 S. Jefferson, Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience after 1 p.m. today at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield, Mo. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to American Heart Association or the Methodist women Sew-n-Sews in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
