Nabholz, Kenneth Paul
MCFARLAND/MADISON -- Kenneth Paul Nabholz, age 52, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at his sister's home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by his loving family, Ken's journey into everlasting life was peaceful. He was born in Madison, on Nov. 5, 1955, to Paul and Shirley (Knickmeyer) Nabholz. Ken was able to work and live in a variety of jobs and places because of his ability to get along well with all those he came in contact with. He was a skilled carpenter while living in Madison, Arizona, and most recently, McFarland. Ken also worked in the maintenance and shipping departments of the University of Wisconsin and UPC Inc., respectively. He will be remembered for his kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, and his loving, easy going nature. Ken was a true friend, wonderful brother and loving son. He was a lifelong Packers fan, win or lose, and was fortunate enough to see his team play at Lambeau field. Ken also believed this was the year they would make it to the Super Bowl. He loved nature and the great outdoors. Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing, much of which he learned from his grandfather. He also spent many summers on his great-uncle's farm, harvesting crops and caring for livestock. Ken is survived by his mother, Shirley (Richard) Thayer of Madison; sisters, Kristy (Gordon) Meicher of Middleton, Vicki Nabholz of Oxnard, Calif., Karen (Mark) Zimmerman of Racine and Sharon Nabholz-Woodford of Finchburg; nieces and nephews, Jenny (Steve) Santek, Cindy and David Meicher, Jake, Zachary and Grant Zimmerman, and Leanna and Megan Woodford; aunt, Audrey Graack; first cousins, Steve, Michael and Scott Nabholz; step-brothers, Timothy, Robert, Thomas and Bill (Missy) Theyer; step-sister, Theresa (David) Brengle; as well as many other relatives and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Nabholz; grandparents, Frank and Jensina Knickmeyer and Henry and Alva Droster; uncle, Stephen Nabholz; aunts, Mildred Blake and Elizabeth Nabholz; and nephew, Brandon Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2165 Linden Ave., Madison, at noon on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, with the Rev. Patrick Siegler presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or HospiceCare Inc. The family wishes to thank the staff of HospiceCare, Their skilled, empathetic care and kindness was greatly appreciated by Ken and his family. "May you always walk in sunshine and God's love around you flow. For the happiness you gave us, no one will ever know. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you the day God took you home," "Forever in our hearts."
