D. Edwin "Ed" Brush was taken from us in a peaceful setting at his home with family and friends where he succumbed to be free again on April 19, 2015. Our precious husband, father, grandfather and friend was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Edna, sisters, Dot, Opal, Maude, Fern and Betty Lou and his brothers, Ozzie and Daniel Brush. He is survived by his wife of sixty plus years, Regina, children Wes (Liz) and Arleen Johnson, grandchildren, Alyse (Jeff) Jenkins, Serena (Scott) Zamora, Adam, and Gina (Dan) Stammers, great grandchildren, Sawyer and Finn Jenkins, sisters Edith (Julian) Marcuerquiaga and Clementine (Carl) Johnson and nieces, Jewel (Don) Tienharra, Rhonda (Tex) Martin, Estella, Jane, and Lola Brown and their families.
Ed's passion was flying his airplane. His joy was ditch-riding, running irrigation water for thirty two-years, helping his farmer friends, working for TCID and ending his career with the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District as a member of the board of directors representing Fernley and the surrounding communities. Ed was a volunteer fireman for thirty-eight years and helped to support the department by selling tickets to the annual Fireman's Ball. Ed was a born Samaritan-his way of life.

Our family is grateful to Sophie Schade, caregiver and friend, for her unselfish and dedicated service to our beloved Ed. A special thanks to Dr. Connie and Bob Knoll for their support, friendship and medical assistance. The St. Mary's Hospice Team were very comforting during his final hours.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held in the Fernley Fire Station at 11:00AM on May 16, 2015 and in Paradise Valley at the Lodge Hall on May 17, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. Remembrances may be sent to the Fernley Fire Department, 165 East Main, Fernley, Nevada 89408 or the Paradise Fire Department, Paradise Valley, Nevada 89426. The address for the family is P. O. Box 178 Fernley, Nevada 89408.

Thomas A. Farnen Dies in California
CALIFORNIA (Special) -- Thomas Ambrose Farnen, 68, was found dead at his home in California early Saturday, the victim of a heart attack.
His body was found about 7 a.m. by his wife, a night duty nurse, when she returned home. Coroner Kenyon Latham said Mr. Farnen had been dead since early morning and ruled he died of a heart attack.
Mr. Farnen was born Dec. 27, 1872, in Montgomery County, the son of Lawrence and Mary Farnen. He was married Oct. 15, 1941, to Martha Knox. The couple lived in New Bloomfield until 21 months ago when they moved to California.
Survivors also include seven sons, two brothers, four sisters and four grandchildren.
Mr. Farnen was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Jonesburg were services will be held Tuesday morning. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Funeral services for Thomas Farnen were held September 6 at St. Patrick's Church in Jonesburg with Fr. Lamping officiating. Mr. Farnen died at his home in California, Mo. on September 2, 1961. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Rosary was said Tuesday evening at the Baker Funeral Home in New Florence.
He was born Dec. 27, 1892 in Montgomery City, son of Mary Mack and Lawrence Farnen. He is survived by his wife, the former Martha Knox and their five children, Ray Farnen, Lorene O'Malley and Theresa Farnen all of Kansas City, James Farnen of New Florence and Esther Shocklee, Montgomery City; and seven sons by his first wife, the former Anna Cobb who preceded him in death; Thomas, Seattle, Wash., Richard and James, Denver, Colo., Larry, Homer, Alaska, William, Kansas City, Mo., Joseph, St. Louis and Eugene, Okinawa.

Note: The above obituary is in error. Thomas and his second wife, Martha did not have any children. The five children listed in the above obituary are Thomas' siblings.
