OBITUARY - Kearney Hub on October 11, 2011
Jessie Mae Sivits, 90, of North Platte died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Kearney County Health Service Long-Term Care in Minden. Jessie was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Elsie to James and Lily (Dalgarn) Brown.
On Sept. 26, 1940, she married Herbert Sivits. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are: daughters, Judy Gilbert of Chandler, Ariz., Bobbie Heitman and her husband, Bob, of Minden, Marcia Millen of Salt Lake City, Carol Molina of Friendswood, Texas, and Connie Lupo and her husband, Steve, of Spring, Texas; son, Edward Sivits of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Clark of St. Croix Falls, Wis., Dorothy Fear of North Platte, Mildred Martin of Wallace, Margaret Snyder of The Dalles, Ore., and Mary Sherman of Sterling, Colo.; and brother, James Brown of Maidens, Va.
Her family moved to a farm near Wallace and in 1934 moved into Wallace. She and Herbert made their home in North Platte.
Jessie enjoyed taking part in the many social events of the Ladies Auxiliary, Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose Lodge, where she was a member for many years. She also was a member of the Wallace American Legion Auxiliary for 31 years and a member of First Christian Church in North Platte.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lily Cecil, and a brother, Donald Brown.
Interment was in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
