AT REST

On Sunday morning, January eighteenth, at three o'clock, Mrs. C. H. Harpole passed peacefully away to her long rest after a period of suffering extending through many years.
Elnetta Mingus was born in Ashland County, Ohio, and when but a mere child moved with her parents to Lee County, Illinois, where she grew into young- womanhood and obtained an education. At the age of seventeen years she came to Sherman County, Nebraska where she began her vocation as a teacher in a district school, and for several years followed that line of work having taught the primary department at Ravenna Nebraska, where she gave entire satisfaction, for in that, as in everything else she undertook, she gave her very best. Also, being an accomplished elocutionist, giving recitals in a large area of the country and meeting with applause wherever she went. On August first, 1892, she was joined in marriage with C. H. Harpole at Lincoln, Nebraska. The greatest disappointment of her life has been that no children came to bless their home.
Mrs. Harpole's general break down in health began about fourteen years ago with an attack of inflamatory rheumatism, and, although all was done that love and money could do she gradually failed until about a year ago she fell and broke her hip, causing extreme suffering from which she never recovered. She expressed her faith in Christ and on January second, 1913 was baptized and received into the Methodist church, and then transferred into the Presbyterian church at Scottsbluff.
Mrs. J. W. Richardson, of Delta, Colorado, an only sister, has been her constant companion for the last year.
The funeral services were conducted at the home on Monday afternoon, January nineteenth, 1914 by Rev. T. C. Osborne assisted by Rev. E. L. Torrence. The lesson used was Romans 8, 18-39 and the text was the eighteenth verse, from which Rev. Osborne gave a most fitting address.
One of the touching features was that Mrs. Harpole had selected her own hymns.
The remains were laid to rest in the Bayard cemetery. One sister, Mrs. J. W. Richardson, and one brother, O. P. Mingus are the only immediate relatives that survive.
