MEADOWBROOK FARM J. W. RADER GREENEVILLE, TENNESSEE
Aug. 3, 1937 Dearest Virginia,
When this letter reaches you perhaps you will already be 21 yrs. old and we say your own woman. At that age we are supposed to be ready to make our own decisions and choose for ourselves. Still I trust you will be the same obedient girl you have always been but childhood is surely over and you face the sterner realities of life.
I’m making you the promise of a new watch for your birthday and meant to get it and send it on time but Mama thought you will like most to select it yourself. You find what will suit you best and I will see that you get it. I hope you are no longer home sick and will finish your stay very happily. Lovingly, Daddy
