Services for Manley Riley Rodgers, 65, of Montgomery City were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Montgomery City United Methodist Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles Millner officiating.
Mrs. Karen Miller was vocalist with Mrs. E. Boone Schlanker as organist.
Interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Don Truitt, Harold Landrum, John Franklin Miller, Burt Miller, John Harness and Wendell Bishop.
The Schlanker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He died Friday at St. Luke's Hospital West in St. Louis County following an extended illness.
Mr. Rodgers was born Sept. 11, 1912, near Montgomery City, where he spent his entire life. He is the son of Thomas Powell and Jennie Smith Rodgers. On Aug. 18, 1940, he married the former Betty Marie Rhoads who survives at home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Anne Bernat; two grandchildren, Christina Ann and Eric Wayne Bernat; and one son-in-law, Otto L. Bernat all of Montgomery City.
Mr. Rodgers was an agent for the Columbia Mutual Insurance Co. and a retired farmer. he was the director of the First National Mercantile Bank at Montgomery City and currently was serving as its vice-president.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the Montgomery City United Methodist Presbyterian Church and was active in the Montgomery City Lions Club.

Obituaries: Roy Callaway
Services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. for Roy Lee Callaway, 71, of Montgomery City at the Schlanker Funeral home in Montgomery City. Burial was in the Montgomery City cemetery.
Mr. Callaway, who had been in failing health for several years, died Tuesday, May 1, at his home.
He was born in Montgomery County on July 24, 1912, a son of Grover and Dora Powell Callaway. He and the former Helen Earlene Blackburn were married in Laddonia on July 24, 1936. She survives at the home.
Other survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Carolyn) Zuroweste, Mexico; Mrs. Melvin (Joan) Blaue, Wellsville; Mrs. Alvin (Marlene) Muchow Jr., Montgomery City; Mrs. Larry (Judy) Schraer, Richland: Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Adams, St. Louis; one son, Mike Callaway, Austin Texas; 10 grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, James of Montgomery City and Charlie of Fort Lupton, Colorado; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Jones and Mrs. Frank (Dora) Davis, Montgomery City; Mrs. Vernon (June) Meier, Great Falls, Montana; Mrs. Bruce (Wanda) Sponsel, St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Callaway and one infant sister, Dorothy.
Mr. Callaway was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was retired from the United States Post Office.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Montgomery City Christian Church of which he was a member or to the Central Missouri Diabetes Association.

James P. ("J") CALLAWAY
James P. Callaway, 92, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Lenoir Woods Senior Living Communty in Columbia, MO.
James Powell Callaway was born October 25, 1916 in Montgomery County, MO to Grover C Callaway and Dora Powell Callaway. He graduated from Montgomery City High School.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930's. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving as a navigator from June 3, 1943 until November 4, 1945 and continuing his service in the Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Callaway married Alvie Marie Blackburn on March 25, 1946 in Montgomery City, MO. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1986 in Montgomery City. Mr. Callaway later married Ellen Day Brower on July 17, 1999 in Montgomery City, Mo.
Mr. Callaway was a member of the Montgomery City Christian Church; the Montgomery City VFW Post; the American Legion; the Rural Letter Carriers Association; the Military Reserve Officers Association; the Montgomery City Volunteer Fire Department; and the Squircle Eight Square Dancers Club. He also enjoyed playing cards, gardening and working out in his yard. He loved visiting with his family and friends.
Mr. Callaway is survived by his wife, Ellen Day Brower Callaway of Montgomery City, Mo; two daughters: Linda Kay Spires and husband James of Wright City, MO; and Karen Lynn Broz and husband, Bob, of Columbia, MO; two step-children: Dale Brower and wife Sharon; and Mary Deeker and husband Marcus, all of Bellflower, MO; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and eight step-great-grandchildren. ALso surviving is one sister, June Meier and husband, Vernon, of Great Falls, Montana; one brother, Charles Callaway and wife, Dora of Fort Lupton, CO; sister-in-law, Laura Callaway of St. Louis, MO and numberous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Callaway was preceded in death by his parents, Grover C. Callaway and Dora Powell Callaway; his wife Alvie Marie Blackburn Callaway; four sisters: Mary Jones, Dora Davis, Wanda Sponsel and an infant sister; and two brothers: Roy Callaway and Howard Callaway.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. The Reverend Gary Bailey and the Reverend Thomas A.C. Smith will officiate and interment will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO
Casketbearers include Dale, Jackie and Jared Brower, Marcus and Matthew Deeker; Gary River; and Alvin and Randy Muchow. Honorary casketbearers include Mike Palmer, Jr., Reverend Thomas A.C. Smith, William Peveler, Kerry Dowling, Wayne Logan, William J. ("Bill") Niedergerke and Jim O'keefe.
